I have returned, and not only did I see all 16 movies, I also pre-gamed with Focus and McFarland USA to take my total to 18 movies over the 4 days...I might not see another movie in theaters this year after this.

On my way back from my second viewing of age of ultron. I'd rank it up there with Winter Soldier as my favorite MCU movie So far.

Not sure where I rank it but the critical hate it was recieveing seems questionable. Yeah I know what you mean. I tried to avoid looking at any review or rating before going to see it but even I had heard had it was getting lukewarm at best reviews from the critics. It's easily in the upper half of the 11 movies released along with The Winter Soldier, Iron Man 1, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the original Avengers. That's my top 5 right now in some order.

I liked it...I liked it quite a bit, and I managed to avoid critics reviews (I still haven't read any actually) other than the Rotten Tomatoes percentage which gets stamped on half the apps I use...I'm gonna see it a 2nd time tomorrow since my first experience was tainted by a horrific crowd, but the movie itself was fun. By the way, interesting list NY. I think your list is more on par with what the mainstream feels. Top to bottom, I'd go: Guardians of the Galaxy The Avengers Captain America: The Original Avenger Iron Man Thor: The Dark World Avengers: Age of Ultron Thor Captain America: The Winter Soldier The Incredible Hulk Iron Man 3 Iron Man 2 But even with that order, only Iron Man 2 & 3 are movies I actively don't recommend. I just think I like the Thor films and the original Cap movie more than most...

Not that he was a bad villain but I had higher expectations. I'd say my full list would be: Captain America: The Winter Soldier Avengers: Age of Ulton Guardians of the Galaxy The Avengers Iron Man -- Captain America: The First Avenger Thor Thor: The Dark World --- The Incredible Hulk Iron Man 2 Iron Man 3 Incredible Hulk was meh as was Iron Man 2 but Iron Man 3 was terrible. Captain America: TFA and the two Thors are good movies that just had some things that knocked them down a bit for me.

War of the Worlds was on TV the other day and I watched. It wasn't as bad as people claimed - I enjoyed most of it, but it ended so abruptly.

Saw I Am Number Four the other day since it was on TV and it was pretty meh. I love the premise but it just didn't seem very well executed.

Yeah it was hardly a "war" They came here, were well on their way to killing off everyone and then basically realized they were allergic to our planet. The end.

The end. Well, to be fair that's the entirity of the book...aliens come, aliens PWN humans, aliens die cause they get the measles or some shit, the end. The book does have more of an epilogue of how the alien invasion changed life for humans...but that's not what sells in a blockbuster film. FYI - I saw War of the Worlds in theaters when it came out, and actually like it quite a bit.

I'm new here but I just streamed Ex-Machina online today and watched a little and it was too weird for me. Wasn't into it too much so I cut it short.
For anybody else, I recently saw Avengers and enjoyed it. Definitely worth checking out, but I'm sure most of you guys knew that already.
About to re-watch Interstellar tonight, huge Christopher Nolan fan.

I watch THE PRESTIGE basically every time it's on tv. So good.

On a similar note, I went through a phase where I actively searched and tried to find every time "The Town"" was playing on TV (which I was pretty successful at if I may say so myself). Love the bank robbery scenes.

Every movie mentioned in the past 24 hours is great except Interstellar, which was just meh. The Prestige, the Lookout, the Town...all fantastic.
Ex Machina is one of the top 3 movies I've seen so far this year, and I've seen a LOT of movies.

Jurassic World made a lot of movie and was pretty decent, and there are tons of more blockbuster-y movies out right now, but I've got to recommend Love & Mercy to anyone who has the opportunity to see it. The story of Brian Wilson told from the perspectives of two time periods in his life is THE best movie I've seen this year, and according to letterboxd I've seen too many. John Cusack is his best he's been in years, but Paul Dano is the star of the film...just give him all the awards.
Love & Mercy...see it.
Then see Jurassic World, cause, you know, DINOSAURS!

I was okay. Didn't understand Hopes character at all. Some of the pacing was strange too.
The Baskin Robins line killed.

I just saw Antman. I was okay. Didn't understand Hopes character at all. Some of the pacing was strange too. The Baskin Robins line killed. POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!! Ok, I gave it the weekend, and I've heard more than a couple people say they've seen it, so I'll give my multiple criticisms now. Mind you, Ant-Man was still an okay Marvel movie...it wasn't Hulk/Iron Man 2/Iron Man 3 bad. But it certainly wasn't very good. Here were my main issues. 1. I agree with the pacing issues. The film dragged way too much, then raced through the interesting parts. There is no balance. 2. The film thought it was Trainwreck instead of a film about superheroes...in other words, instead of trying to blend comedy into the action (like Guardians of the Galaxy did fantastically, and the other Marvel films have done to lesser degrees), the entire film is just hitting you over the head with one liners. Michael Pena and the rest of the heist crew seem to be there for comic relief, but you don't need that much comic relief when Paul Rudd is already doing a one man comedy show. Again, there is no balance. 3. This might be my biggest issue, and I'm not sure if it's cause I didn't read the comics. I also don't understand Hope's character at all...but for that matter, I don't understand Scott's character either. Hell, other than Henry Pym's character, I don't understand why anyone in the film is actually doing what they are doing. (AGAIN, SPOILERS!!!!) Scott's gone to prison for "burgling" and put his family through hell, but his daughter still thinks he's a hell of a guy. He's out now, and to get his daughter back his wife tells him he needs a place to live, a job and to pay child support. So the first thing he does is goes to work on a potential suicide mission as the Ant-Man because...reasons? There is no promise of pay...he even tells Hope that the reason Henry wants him in the suit is because he's expendable. So what is his motivation??? His daughter? His daughter already loves him. Redemption? How does getting arrested, escaping jail and doing any of this get him redemption. None of this makes any sense. The only person who makes less sense in the story is Evangline Lilly with her bad haircut and her daddy issues. Marvel has done a tremendous job so far in every one of their previous initial movies of not just giving an origin story, but giving a real motivitation for each character as to why they are doing what they do. But this...none of this movie made any sense. What was the payoff supposed to be for Scott, other than warm and fuzzy feelings? It's built up as a heist movie where the guy doing the heist isn't getting anything out of the robbery...explain please? I have more, but this last one bugged me enough that I want to hear some responses first.

I have to say, I thought it was really funny. I like Rudd a lot in general, so I probably have more positive view than most. That being said, you are correct about the lack of explanation. They keep alluding to Scott's earlier crime, but there wasn't a whole lot of explanation about what his motivations were for accepting Pym's offer. I think I would have rather seen them use Pym as the main character. I never read the comics, but from what I understand, Pym is a serious player. Why waste the whole character?
