It would be real interesting if Russell went #2, although I think the Lakers will snag Towns/Okafor. If Russell is available at 3 I think the Sixers take him. Funny that the sixers could have ended up with 2 more lotto picks, but they ended up being protected.

Good thing is, though, KG will be there to chew him out and taunt him every time he misses a rotation or a board, so that could eventually work out well. I think Towns could learn just as much if not more. Imagine KG tutoring a guy who wants to learn and play hard. this is the part that makes me so very excited. I've read and seen coach cal go after towns harder than anyone on that roster aside from sometimes WKS when he out thought himself and would try shooting jumpers.

Towns is the clear #1 for me, think he is gonna be a great player. With Russell being the 2nd best prospect and Okafor 3rd.

I don't think Okafor is a better prospect than Embiid so do Philly take another Center when they've got their center of the future or do they take the big PG in Mudiay to pair with Noel, Embiid, Wroten, and Covington?

Yea wouldn't be an ideal scenerio for Philly, haven't see anything on Mudiay tbh so not sure but possibly. They love picks so maybe could move down if they can get another pick out of it, or just pick up Okafor anyway.
I also like a couple of the International guys, interested to see where Hezonja and Porzingis end up going.

Doing some more reading on the topic of "Best Option at #1" and I am warming up to Okafor.
Towns' defense (while good) seems to be a bit overrated and Okafor has lost some weight and had to stay out of foul trouble because Duke didn't have much depth up front.
I think the race between the two is closer than I originally thought.
Also, some rumor suggested that Flip prefers Russell at #1. I highly doubt it, probably a smokescreen or a ploy to get someone (PHI) to move up for him.
Who knows, just thought I'd share it here.

So Russell cancels his workout with Philly. I wonder if it's nothing or if he got a promise from LA. I've been warming up to Manny for NY so i'd be disappointed to see Philly grab him now.

Rumors saying it could be Minny and they looking to deal Rubio. That wouldn't shock me. Still, very very odd to see someone cancel a workout for a Top 3 pick. Not that I can blame him, who in their right mind wants to go to Philly now. The dealt MCW to lose even more. Agents/Players have to be wondering if they ever want to win.

Workout or not teams are gonna pick the players they want. I believe all the Russell to Minny stuff is just smokescreen BS honestly. To sell Rubio low and draft a PG would be just poor poor management

Sounds like Flip is in on Towns at #1.
Most of the people in the Wolves organization are on the KAT bandwagon and have been convincing him over the last few weeks capped off by the workout he saw a couple days ago.
No matter what Chad Ford says the Wolves are not talking Rubio either.

I was sold on him when he came in the league but his shooting is really holding him back...not sure he 'll ever develop it.

His shooting does hold him back, for sure, but his game management is top shelf. He does EVERYTHING else at a high level that I truly believe, if the Timberwolves develop as expected, he'll become a souped-up version of Rondo (because he does everything better, ESPECIALLY defend). Not sure he'll be able to become much better as a shooter, because he's got massive hands. Like, I'd bet Rondo size, maybe even bigger. Edit My friend watched a game in Indiana vs. the Pacers and said that during warmups, it looked like Rubio had Mickey Mouse hands haha

Any chance Flip .... picks that Euro? Only if they use some combo of Shabazz/Dieng/Martin/LaVine/31/36 to try and move back into the Top 6. He won't select him at #1.

There are numerous advanced stats that show the Wolves are A LOT better with Rubio on the court. They average like 10 more points per 100 possessions with him vs without and the defensive numbers are something like 5ppg better with him than without. He's awesome. His shot it looking much better since he's been working with shooting coach Mike Penberthy. My only concern about Rubio is him staying healthy. Thankfully his injuries have been freak things that aren't tied into each other (unlike PEK).

Unfortunately, there's ZERO chance the Euro - Kristaps Porzingis - falls out of the top 4 now. The hype surrounding him is becoming insane and there's talks of LA and Philly drafting him. Personally, I don't think he'll ever amount to much despite how amazing he looks with a chair guarding him. The narrow shoulders are very scary - it tells me he won't be able to put on much mass. He's not quick or fast enough for SF, he won't be able to put on much mass to play PF and it's laughable to think he could play Center. Also, under no circumstance do I move LaVine. He really played well at the end of the season and reminded me of Jamal Crawford - obviously - for his ISO moments and heat checks, but also reminded me of Westbrook the few times he did drive to the cup.

In what way can you watch these finals and think it's a good idea to draft Okafor over the other top guys (main 4)? It's crazy how the league has become.
