god this site is fun!
i got a best for business draft sim here...
LA NYK Minny....
not sure where the wolves go in that instance.... do we really think ricky is the solution or do we go hyper athletic back court and take Emmanuel Mudiay?

Mudiay can't shoot. I think he'd be a bad it with Rubio.
I'd maybe look at Porzingas, Winslow, or trading the pick of its 4th. If it's top 3 you take Towns, Okafor, or Russell (at this point, draft stocks may change)

It's not about pick one for me. For me it's staying in the top 4. If we kept #1 prelotto we were guaranteed to get a top 4 pick. Now with the Knicks luck we'll drop to 5.

Yeah that's my thing too. #1 prelotto keeps you in the top 4 "elite" prospects though I bet the guys at 5-8 will be pretty good too. Not sure the drop is as great as people generally think. I'm not a great college/international basketball scouting mind so I'm just guessing.

As a Hawks fan interesting night tonight to see who we get in the first round, not sure what I'd prefer. On one hand if the Pacers get in we get a lotto pick from the Nets in the 9/11 range but the Pacers are playing well as of late and could be a tough matchup for us. If the Nets win I'd be pretty confident in winning that series but that would push the pick back to 15.

#2 Pre-Lotto now let the ping pong balls fall where they may. Waiting for the lottery is the longest 3-4 weeks of the entire NBA season. #goodluckKnicks #butnottoomuchluck

Bah, Pacers missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker. A few months ago, I thought we'd be able to nab Cauley-Stein or Hezonja in that 6-8 range. Now I think we'll be targeting Kaminsky or Porzingis in the late lottery, which I'm not too happy about. Hopefully a long summer of rest will be good for George, West, and Hibbert.

Justise Winslow has shot up boards though so he can sneak in there, I definitely would prefer not to take him for the Wolves. As for the Euros, I dont know much about them but Im pretty sure Hezonja is a wing and Porzingis is a big, so theyre different

Looks like teams are projecting D'Angelo Russell as a PG, and I expect him to go before Mudiay. Winslow had a hell of a tournament and I could see him going 3 or 4, now. I have the two Europeans as polar opposites. I love Hezonja's game. He struggles a bit with his defense and putting the ball on the floor, and his shooting is a bit inconsistent. I think the shooting will definitely come along rather quickly, and if he's in the right situation, he has the tools to be a good defender, too. That just leaves the ball handling, which is a little concerning because he loves having the ball in his hands. If he doesn't develop that, then you're looking at an inconsistent shooting gunner off the bench with the potential to catch a few lobs but ultimately waste his athleticism. If he develops into a strong ball handler (like Paul George did) and works on that shot, you're looking at a scary 20+ppg scorer. The other main issue is his attitude. He has a little DeMarcus Cousins thing going on. He loves playing, shooting, and generally having the ball in his hands. If he doesn't get all three of those things, he gets moody. He'll be the type of guy that if he turns into a 2nd option, you'll love his attitude because he wants to work hard and win. But if a coach is bringing him off the bench for 10 minutes and only runs like 2 plays for him, he's going to cause problems. I hate Porzingis. I don't see it with him. He'e scrawny, has narrow shoulders (so he won't ever fill out), and not much of a game that translates to the NBA IMO. Henzonja's an elite European athlete and a very good NBA one. Porzingis is a good European athlete, but probably not anything above average for the NBA. He has a bit of game and potential all around the floor, which is what NBA scouts like. He has a little high post game, low post game, a jump shot, some ball handling skills, range out to 3, and he likes to dunk. I'm not just not convinced all that will translate. He sort of reminds me of a less athletic Yi Jianlian.

Russell as a PG?
Really?
This isn't like how scouts called LaVine a PG right? Cause he is obviously a 2.

Would you really draft Crash Wallace in the top 4? I mean I like Justice but he was good in college because he was a better athlete and stronger than guys, that won't be the case in the NBA.
Call me crazy but I think he is a solid long term starter and nothing else

He sort of reminds me of a less athletic Yi Jianlian. I've discussed Okafor (great offense near rim, limited elsewhere on both sides but sure bet to be NBA starter for 10+ years, just maybe not superstar) and Towns (raw across board except on defense near rim but potential through the ceiling and the makeup to reach it mindset and worth ethic wise). I think Mudiay in workouts and interviews will prove the kinda kid he's matured into and it'll help him a ton. Sure he lacks ability to shoot from range with consistency but honestly, he's just a better all around MCW already. Add a consistent jumper and he's got a chance to be elite NBA PG. Already defends at high level. I've really had Russell grow on me but I think Arizona proved his struggles. Much better suited to be an off-guard who runs the show half the time (like your Hardens or Brandon Roy was). He can create for others but lacks ability to run a team consistently. Really good at creating his own shot and improving off the catch. Upside is there. Now, I really wanna talk about the Euros. I agree about Hezonja on the ball handling and mental make-up but he's already an in the gym shooter (can shoot any way from any where at an elite NBA clip). I worry about his mentality and 100% agree if he doesn't get the minutes and ball (and/or is losing) that he could become combustible. I worry how NBA players from America take to him. Euro's don't often possess his sort of personality and it'll be an interesting dynamic. I don't agree with you at all on Porzingis. I think people are viewing him as a big (edit: Pivot, near goal type player) too much. Take a look at the Euro talent that has been able to succeed at the 3/4/5 combo that is being created in the NBA and he's just a more athletic and better version of those guys. Mainly look at a few Rockets players. He's got ability and skillset to be a long term starter in the NBA already but his potential is maybe 2nd highest in the draft of the bigs. I think his athleticism is high level NBA (especially for a 7'1 player) and his skill set screams high level player. It'll take him 2 years or so to adjust to everyone being strong and athletic but once he does... could become a regular all-star.

I think if whatever team gets D'Angelo tries to make him a full time PG theyre screwing up Agree I love D'Angelo and think he has a chance to be a very special NBA player but he will need to by a hybrid type and spend a lot of time coming off screen or catching off the kick, not just to hit shots but because he does better in space with movement and is much better doing that off the ball than he is with the ball. Elite vision and passing. He is truly a unique prospect but if a team tries to pigeonhole him into PG they are making a huge mistake.

I basically agree with most of the last few comments.
Winslow: I'm not sure I'd take him in the top 5, but somewhere close. He's a good, but not great, athlete, and I question his scoring ability at the NBA level. He'd be a much better prospect if he were two inches taller or had prime Shawn Marion athleticism. That said, he had a great tournament and won a national title, he's tough, and he has potential. I think he has separated himself from Stanley Johnson and any team with a hole at the 3 would love to have him.
Russell: I mostly agree that in that I don't entirely project him as a PG, but it just seems to be what I'm hearing. I don't think I'd want him as a long-term starter at PG, but yes, he seems like one of those off guards that always has the ball in his hands like Harden or Roy. I do think he has better vision (and is less of a scorer) than both of them, so I wouldn't be afraid to give him time as the sole ball handler throughout the game. For instance, Evan Turner saw some time as one of three (or four) wings on the floor for the Pacers last year (and Celtics this year). He's started some games at PG for Boston, and I do think an up-and-coming team could do that with Russell. It'd be a worthwhile experiment for a year or two, better than Oladipo at PG in Orlando.
Hezonja: I agree that he's a good shooter with a lot of range. It's probably tough for him to get in a rhythm not getting all the minutes and shots he wants. Looks like he's shot better this year (39% and 41%) than in the past, which is encouraging. That said, he's still an athlete first and a shooter second, sort of in the Gerald Green mold. I have no doubt that he's going to be a solid shooter in the pros, but I don't think he's Klay Thompson good from range.
Porzingis: Houston's a great example. What makes him better than Donatas Motiejunas? Porzingis admittedly does have a better shot and is a better athlete. But, Motiejunas is bigger, has a better touch, and is a better rebounder, and it took him 2 years of looking like an absolute scrub before he turned into a solid rotational big. Porzingis actually does have a little bit of Motiejunas, present Josh Smith, and Terrence Jones to his game. Like, Motiejunas, I think 2-3 years down the line, he could turn into a good bench piece or spot starter. I just don't see all-star, go-to scorer, or even long-term starter in him. Not sure what makes you think he has a higher upside than Okafor or Towns.

Who knows. Russell/Hezonja yep. Kristaps, gonna need time but his veiling man, it's high. Not higher than Towns but much much more versatile than Okafor. Okafor lacks the horizontal and quick lift elite levels. He's got very good strength but so does rest of NBA veterans. I more worry about him fitting in todays game with his lack of shooting ability and struggles on defense against P&R or outside of 8 feet. Gonna get exposed.
