Thoughts on episode 2 of Gotham? It was good, as I'm still digging Gordon and his partner, but my concerns linger. I like that they are developing Penguin, but the fact that they are still focusing as much as they are on Bruce Wayne and his parents murder is a problem. I know you have to set the foundation for the city, but you've made the introduction, now move on...he isn't Batman for at least another 10 years, and the show is about Gordon...it needs to sink or swim with more than winks toward future Batman villains. Anyone checked out any of the other new shows this year? I've checked out a few of them willingly and couple with my wife not so willingly...a couple are better than Gotham, some are just plain wretched, but it definitely seems like overall there are shows with more potential than last year's new crop of dreck (The Blacklist, Sleepy Hollow...and did anything else last?) Anyone watching anything new of note? Personally I enjoy The Blacklist. As for Gotham, I feel like they are trying to establish just how close Bruce and Gordon actually were. I'm okay with that part as long as it doesn't overwhelm the rest of the story. This episode had a super dark premise too, creepy as hell and yet we still don't know what they were gonna use the kids for. How old is Falcone in the comics? I know the show isn't exactly accurate considering Fish Mooney isn't in the comics ever, but he already seems old and yet he's around when Bruce becomes Batman.

Which new shows have I checked out? Here's what's I've seen and my initial impressions...and keep in mind that as a married man, I'm required to check out a certain amount of crap with my wife. The dreadful: The Mysteries of Laura (might be the worst hour I've seen on network TV ever, and that's not an exaggeration), Manhattan Love Story (bad show, bad premise, bad all around...even though I'm a big fan of Analeigh Tipton) Two and done: Scorpion (I literally only watched cause KK was raving about it in chat...the first episode was dumb, the second was worse, I'm out), NCIS: New Orleans (it's takes everything good about NCIS, which is starting to get stale, and gives it a bad accent and a poor lead in Scott Bakula...the fact they already resorted to a crossover after two episodes doesn't bode well) Meh, I'll give it another shot: Selfie (my wife likes it and it's My Fair Lady in modern format...it might catch on with John Cho as Henry Higgins), Madam Secretary (didn't love the premiere, but there was enough going on to stick around a little while) Decent: Gotham (talked about more than enough above), Forever (the premise is silly, but the show works so far...the side plot of another "can't be killed" guy might derail things though) Good: How To Get Away With Murder (the best show so far of the new season, great premiere, like the cast, will probably tire of the jumping back and forth in time effect real quick) Still To Come: Gracepoint (my most eagerly anticipated show of the fall...10 episode mini-series that is supposed to directly take from the BBC show Broadchurch but promises a very different ending, Tennant maintains his role from the original series), The Flash (fans of Arrow like myself are looking forward to this spin-off, which has been teased for a year now), Marry Me (this looks like the new Happy Endings, and that means I'll be all in)

Nothing will ever beat the original. I'm also pretty excited for Gracepoint. As much as I dislike Skylar in Breaking Bad, Anna Gunn is still a good actress and the premise of small town murder mystery is always enticing. Is "How to get away with murder" really that good Plossl? I'm a huge Viola Davis fan but the trailers for the first season seem tacky so I never watched it.

I don't know...they are using a time jump style that I'm annoyed with already, but the cast is strong, Davis is fantastic in the role and the story appears strong. I definitely recommend giving it a shot.

We actually do know what they were doing with the kids, they were taking him to "The Doll Maker" is what I thought was mentioned during the show. Again not a huge Batman fan but from what I have read and what I saw in Arrow, he does what his name implies and that's turn people into dolls. As for the Falcone's age, from what information I could find he is only 27 years older than Batman so the show is inaccurate there. He was Gotham's most powerful mafia boss in the time leading up to and during Batman's first years in the costume. So this is probably a little earlier for him to be how powerful he is & how old he is.

I think they only said it once maybe twice so idk if that's the last we'll hear about him.

Last week's episode was pretty amazing, finally connected 10 years of Richard and Ellis storyline.

I have, however, seen every episode of Grey's, and I agree, it's good they have finally tied the Richard and Ellis stoyline up with a nice little bow after all these years. Ellis is dead, Adell is dead...might as well throw some resolution into that.

I just wish Bailey wasn't such a mushy goof. I miss her old "nazi" days.

I forgot to mention I show I've been into that just had it's finale yesterday.
Its on WGN (of all channels) and it's called MANH(A)TTAN.
It's about the Manhattan project and the people who had to live at White Sands, NM during the Atom-bomb race in the 1940s. It's pretty solid for the most part. There are a few head scratcher moments from characters but all-in-all I enjoy it.

How in the actual fuck do you people find time for multiple new programs AND tons of new films? Do you just skip eating? Do you not have jobs? Are you part of some weird time warp? Jesus.

I'm a full time student with only one class on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday so I have spare time for netflix on those days lol. I am not yet a full fledged member of the "real world" as the elder generation refers to it.

I sleep like 2-3 hours a night...I started back in college and I've never broken the cycle. I'm sure it will kill me by age 40, but until then, it gives me time to catch up on TV, movies and books long after the wife and kids are asleep.

Really enjoyed Gracepoint so far. Agree on How to Get Away with Murder I feel like every episode is 3 half episodes that are then sorted out over the next 2-3 episodes and meh. If I wanted to think that much I'd rewatch Lost.
