Dempsey returns to MLS, immediately loses respect of all MLS fans but they won't admit it.
Seattle. Gross.

Not like he had a ton of say in the matter... Spurs sold him on a whim which is only going to compound the Bale issue IMO. Dempsey had a bumpy first season but when you don't have any striker to help set you up, then your gonna struggle. The whole thing is stupid.

Yeah, I am not sure I like it for US Soccer but if him coming to MLS brings another star who says sure he'll come because of the others... and it brings validity to the MLS then I am all for it. Not a Seattle fan at all (Galaxy, well Landon and Omar fan) but they deserve a star the way they sell that stadium out. Jury gonna be out on this for a couple years. Until a non American player shows up before he is over the hill.

I was a little suprised but maybe he was fed up with sitting on the bench at Tottenham, dont think they sold him on a whim, I would say he wanted the move. Sounds likes hes getting good money there aswell.

I have no clue why you would leave the epl for the mls.... $32 million over 3.5 years > $21 million over 3 years Also, who says playing in front of a bunch of Brits is better. London? Really? I'll refer you to the following: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNlqcQLJ5mMTruth is, the Prem isn't the end-all-be-all of professional soccer anymore. The TV deal there makes it hard to pass up the $$$ when offered, but truth is there's good football being played all over the world, not just England. Of course, don't tell the casual fan that (or someone from England). When you question the established assumption the near-sighted don't get it.

I could understand a move to the German, French or Italian league they are all great leagues to play in but even so the mls is still miles behind in my mind at least.

Yea who wants to play infront of sell out stadiums with the best atmosphere when you can play in half empty ones. But yea ofcourse there is quality football all around Europe no doubt, especially Spain and Germany but the best is still in England.

But yea ofcourse there is quality football all around Europe no doubt, especially Spain and Germany but the best is still in England. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_attendance_figures_at_domestic_professional_sports_leaguesSo, now that your statement about attendance is busted, want to re-think your assumption about English soccer being the best? For every "half-empty" MLS stadium I can show you the same thing in England, Italy, and Spain. For every Man U sell out there's plenty of "half-empty" stadiums in Wigan, Sunderland, and Aston Villa. (and funny thing is the only team in 2012-13 in the Prem to average a sellout was Norwich City with a little over 25k per game (102% capacity) I love when people spout off assumptions that aren't true, but they say them nonetheless because (again) they're assumptions that the speaker doesn't think will be challenged. It's not unlike when someone dares to say Michael Jordan isn't the greatest basketball player ever. Everyone jumps up and down because it's the assumption that everyone will agree with the statement, when a rational, reasonable argument can be made for any number of players (including Magic Johnson, Larry Legend, Wilt, Bill Russell, etc). People just keep saying the same thing because they assume it's true because everyone says the same thing. Do many of the world's best players play for the top 10-20 clubs in the world? Yes. Do those top 10-20 compete in the same league (like the English Prem.) over the course of an entire season? No.

Im not really sure where your going and what I was meant to get out of that link, to show me the German league has a higher average attendance? But to answer your first question no I dont want to re-think my assumption about English soccer being the best, there is a reason its the most watched "soccer" league. Anyway if you want to see attendance figures here you go, www.soccerstats.com/attendance.asp?league=england16 of the 20 teams over 90% full, with Wigan obviously being the lowest but they are a rugby town.

Big moves by Leiweke. Putting his LA Galaxy experience to good use here.

Yep, Gilberto, DeRo, Defoe and Bradley? That's fun. I'm considering season tickets. I live 20 minutes from BMO Field and the prices aren't bad. I usually go to 4-5 matches a year but the team should be a hell of a lot more entertaining now.

I'd bet that season tickets would be similar price as trying to get tickets to the 4-5 biggest games...

Was suprised to see Defoe going out to the MLS especially in a world cup year, is a nice pickup for Toronto, should score quite a few goals for them.
