So we all have coaches.
I've made all of the Head Coaches already but I need more assistant coaches and coaches who aren't hired right now.
I have your Phil Jacksons, Red Auerbachs, Pat Rileys, etc (and many from around the world) but I need to round out the ranks. I made Tom Thibodeau as a defensive assistant and Flip Saunders as a FA coach who is good with offense.
So give me..
NAME DOB College City, State (born) Attributes (what are they known best for)
Thanks.

Wait, will everyone have equal coaches or no? Nope. Red Auerbach/Phil/Riley/Daly/etc > Joe Bag o' Waffles from Belgium I have tried to keep it even as far as possible but its not like Red is so superior to the bottom coach that its impossible to win. Not even close. And if you don't like your coach hire a new one in the off-season. Hell, you may be able to fire him before/during the season too. None of this is permanent but yes some teams will have varying strengths/weaknesses to their starting situation (picks, coaches, cap, division rivals, etc) but hopefully nothing too brutal.

:nods: Good coach for us though, I do like what he does in the regular season. Plus, the fact is he gets so much out of players with not as much talent every year it seems (see: Ben Hansbrough, Luke Harangody, Jack Cooley, etc. etc. etc.)
Hopefully we can get some better recruits and CB grows more as a sophomore.

So they're randomly assigned or...? The main coaches were given based on history. Bulls have Phil, Lakers have Pat, Celtics have Red. (You have Lenny Wilkens) Some of the other teams have coaches that might make sense (maybe D'Antoni in Italy..?) otherwise they are regional coaches who have a big history in that area (or other notable NBA coaches who just needed a home). When it came to Assistant Coaches (who can turn into Head Coaches) I just found a CPU created coach who had great D (tweaked him a little) and called him Tom Thibideau and left him on whatever team had the AC (assistant coach) on their team. So in some ways random, in other ways - not really.

Well, you can set what 3 of your coaches work on your team with 5-6 skills.
We'll go over that a bit later. I don't want to overwhelm everyone at once (especially since the coaches aren't done yet). I wasn't sure they could be edited.
How much any of it matters is unknown.

will we be able to make bids on coaches in the future to acquire top coaches or whatever. I think that could add a lot to the league as well.

Baby steps people, baby steps...we will get all the coaching info we can possibly stand soon enough I'm sure. John is just trying to baby bird us these things one piece at a time so we don't get overwhelmed with all the new aspects of the game...right now I think he's mainly just looking for suggestions for more coaches to add to the database...explanations for how they fit in the grand scheme of things with come later. Cool?

Guys, I am not looking specifically FOR assistant coaches.
I want real HEAD COACHES and SCOUTS and such who can be downgraded into Assistants while they wait for their shot to coach.

These are head coaches...of college basketball teams. Do you only want professional coaches? Cause you didn't really specify... All things being the same, I'd much rather have Mike Brey end up on my team of coaches than someone like Eddie Jordan just because they happened to screw up a couple different NBA teams in their tenure.

Im just asking how the coaches are going to work. I think thats a legit question especially if they impact teams differently. I have no problem being patient with this process, but do think it should be considered before the league starts. Just my own opinion.

So in some ways random, in other ways - not really. Kill me now. Most hated coach in Hawks history. Guy's ego was too big, ended up trading 'Nique to the Clippers for Danny freaking Manning in the middle of 'Nique and the Hawks' best season. We were literally in first that season, but Lenny didn't like how 'Nique was a bigger draw than he himself was. Ah well, I'll just make sure there's a setting for shutting Lenny up. EDIT: For the record, the season that we were doing the best at was the year MJ retired/was suspended for gambling/played baseball, which is why we really had a fantastic shot at winning it all until they made that dumb trade.

Mike Fratello February 24, 1947 Montclair State University Hackensack, New Jersey Attributes (what are they known best for): Hawks coach for 7 years in the 80s, probably our glory years too. Helped with the Hawks semi-run-and-gun style, helped 'Nique really reach his peak. If Magic/Bird/MJ/rest of 80s basketball hadn't been as good as it was, he probably could have led the Hawks to a title. Unfortunately he left too early and they ended up bringing Lenny in, which was not a good idea. Fratello kept the team very, very loose and is still really loved and respected around the ATL. He's also 18th all-time in the NBA in both wins and games-coached.
