Mike Fratello February 24, 1947 Montclair State University Hackensack, New Jersey Attributes (what are they known best for): Hawks coach for 7 years in the 80s, probably our glory years too. Helped with the Hawks semi-run-and-gun style, helped 'Nique really reach his peak. If Magic/Bird/MJ/rest of 80s basketball hadn't been as good as it was, he probably could have led the Hawks to a title. Unfortunately he left too early and they ended up bringing Lenny in, which was not a good idea. Fratello kept the team very, very loose and is still really loved and respected around the ATL. He's also 18th all-time in the NBA in both wins and games-coached. Mike is now your AC. Feel free to fire Lenny if you want. He can be my 3rd Base Coach.

Hubie Brown September 25, 1933 Niagara University Elizabeth, New Jersey Atributes (what are they known best for): He was a great coach for a few years with us, won the division title 79-80 but got fired after a disappointing year the next season. Still, if I had to list top 5 all-time Atlanta Hawks coaches, it has to go like this:
1. Mike Fratello 2. Mike Woodson (not that I liked him, but he got results) 3 (tie). Hubie Brown 3 (tie). Lenny Wilkens (only reason they're tied is, while Lenny did actually get wins and good finishes, no one actually liked or respected him much at all. He's still booed whenever he makes an appearance in the ATL. 5. Larry Drew

I'll keep Lenny for now, if only because he has the reputation as a good coach and hopefully that actually helps me out.

It will be weird when Coach Phil Jackson and player Phil Jackson are in the league together.

We talked about that in the chat last night...when Atlanta drafts player Lenny Wilkins next season and gets bossed around by coach Lenny Wilkins.

NAME: Tom Thibodeau DOB: January 17, 1958 College: Salem State City, State: New Britain, Connecticut Attributes (what are they known best for): Defense, defense, defense. Thibs was an assistant coach under JVG with the Knicks for 7 years. According to Wiki, "During his tenure with the Knicks, he helped the team set a then-NBA record by holding 33 consecutive opponents under 100 points in the 2000–01 season." And we all know well the Celts and Bulls have played defense under him.
NAME: Jeff Van Gundy DOB: January 19, 1962 College: Nazareth City, State: Hemet, California Attributes (what are they known best for): Hanging on Alonzo Mourning's leg. Oh, and engineering some great defensive Knicks teams and breaking the Rockets out of their funk by finding a balance with Yao and T Mac. A solid 2-way coach.

So we all have coaches. I've made all of the Head Coaches already but I need more assistant coaches and coaches who aren't hired right now. I have your Phil Jacksons, Red Auerbachs, Pat Rileys, etc (and many from around the world) but I need to round out the ranks. I made Tom Thibodeau as a defensive assistant and Flip Saunders as a FA coach who is good with offense. So give me.. NAME DOB College City, State (born) Attributes (what are they known best for) Thanks. Any chance I can get David Blatt as my coach or assistant? He is an American Israeli, the current Tel Aviv coach, former assistant coach at Tel Aviv and coached Russia in the Olympics last year to Bronze. NAME: David Blatt DOB: May 22, 1959 College: Princeton City, State (born): Boston, Massachusetts, U.S Attributes (what are they known best for): Princeton offense so, Passing, 3pt shot, Handling [/quote]
