Christ, just what this league needs...more Wolves talk. Come on they won a whole 31 games last season, which is only 4 more games then the Lynx won and they only play 34 game seasons Screw Rubio and Love, bust out those Whalen jerseys boys! Don't you mean bust out those Maya Moore jerseys!? #bestbasketballplayerinminnesota

Semoine hurt her knee again? She plays too much like a man for her body. Remember seeing her dunk in High School (a few times a game).

Sounds like the Wizards and John Wall are close to a 5 year 80 mil extension.
Good luck with that..

On top of that, when he is on the court he has proven to be worth $16 million a year... This has disaster written all over it.

I dunno. That contract Joe Johnson got a few years ago from the Hawks was pretty questionable. Same with Rudy Gay's super MAX he got from the Grizz. That guy's an albatross* contract now. * - the term albatross contract comes from the terrible contracts Berlin ALBA GM John Plossl routinely signs people to. It used to be called a Warhawk Contract

Somehow I missed the John Wall discussion a few days ago.
There are some important considerations that we should keep in mind when we're talking about this.
Is Wall worth the max? No, not really. We saw Stephen Curry and Jrue Holliday recently sign deals slightly under the max, and for the sake of this, they're about on par with Wall (Curry better, Holliday worse). Market conditions aren't necessarily the same, and we can't really compare the contracts of these players. We have different situations. Different circumstances.
And we can't necessarily go out and sign Stephen Curry for his $11M with the $16M that we saved from not signing Wall. It doesn't really work like that; there aren't really any players around Wall's level that are available on the open market.
There could be some value in signing him now, to keep him happy, rather than negotiating with a somewhat peeved Wall who may beg for opt-out year(s) towards the end of his contract.
Yes, he's gonna be a little overpaid, but I'm okay with that. It had to be done.
But I dunno. Maybe I'm the optimistic Wizards fan to foil Swoosh's pessimism.

Not to mention Curry signed his contract with the weakest ankles in the NBA, therefore giving the Warriors a discount

I don't know...I've lived in Northern VA off and on for over 25 years now, and the Wizards have been a heartbreaker through it all. I think my pessimism is deserved.

Wiz are turrible, poor fans.
Great re-signing. He's worth more than MLE.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I expect Wall to have a superstar season this year. I think he'll establish himself as a top 5 PG this season and maybe even have a better year than anyone besides Irving and Rose. I like what the Wizards are doing. They have a ton of young pieces in the frontcourt, some good vets, and then a good trio for the future with Wall/Beal/Porter.

Top 5??
Chris Paul Deron Williams Rajon Rondo Kyrie Irving Derrick Rose Russell Westbrook Steph Curry Tony Parker Mike Conley
I'm missing some... but Top 5 seems insane to consider. Can maybe squeak into Top 10.

I know, I'm seriously expecting Wall to have a season that elevates and separates him from Curry, Parker, Westbrook, Rondo, Williams, and maybe even Paul. He was playing really well last season when he wasn't injured, and everything I've heard from him this summer suggests he's been busting his ass and working on his jumper more than ever since he hasn't had to rehab. I'm only expecting Irving and Rose to be better than him. I think Wall will have an MVP-caliber season similar to Rose's 3rd year when he finally got 3-point range. I know, call me crazy, and throw this in the preposterous statements thread.

Curry's production will go down this next year. I guarantee it.
He played through some pain last year (ankles) that he won't play through next year. His new 4 year extension will make sure of that. He's a great shooter and I like his game. I'm just saying, players do stuff during contract years that they don't do once they're paid. I expect his numbers to dip the next couple of seasons and then 3-4 years from now it'll spike again right before he looks to sign a new deal.

I to may be crazy but its a more realistic crazy. I think wall may be at something like 16 7 and a round 3or four rebounds and a few steals per.... He's got all the tools but the question is that if is his head is right.

Hmmmm... so Wall got his contract... and is gonna work harder and fight through pain as well? COME ON... Same situation man. I never said Wall was going to do better after his payday. I'm questioning, why would a player (and organization that just invested millions of dollars in said player) fight through injuries in the short term, at the expense of the long term? That makes zero sense. I'm saying, players are more likely to push through pain in contract years. If you dispute that, then you're moron.

But you said that is only reason Curry played so much and so well. Now that he's paid, he won't put up same stats. But Wall is gonna improve after getting his payday this off-season? That's kinda twisted...
