I take it to an extreme...since I subscribe to the TCM Now Playing Guide, I actually mark up the whole schedule each month to plan out what I'm going to DVR. This year, for the the third year in a row, I'm trying to catch at least one movie I've never seen before per actor/actress.

Nice.
TCM also does a film fest in the fall sometime in California.
I think that'd be fun to go to.

It is in the spring, and if my wife cared AT ALL about classic films I'd already have gone to it once. I'm trying to work it out so I can check it out next year with my brother.
They also do a TCM classic film cruise in December on one of Disney's cruise ships...yes, I am very into Turner Classic Movies.

We should do an ABCA trip to TCMFest where we egg Corey's house on the way out and then ding-dong-ditch Doug on the way back.
Deal?
Luckily, my wife LOVES movies like I do, so we go to festivals. I think we are going to try and do SXSW next year during spring break.

Sign me up, I'm there.
Yeah, my wife doesn't really enjoy movies that are in black & white...or are silent...or have subtitles...so our movie viewing tastes are slightly different.

Yeah we love those.
We sought out The Artist, the color restoration of A Trip to the Moon, and a ton of foreign stuff at festivals because they won't come around to the multiplex we have in town.
(The Artist didn't come out here until 3 weeks after it won Best Picture... what a joke.)

The only thing preventing me from calling PITCH PERFECT the worst movie I've seen all year is the fact that I paid to see GANGSTER SQUAD.

There's a person whose parents named her Rebel in that movie. "They named me after someone who sang at their wedding." To which I ask, what's the excuse for her siblings: Liberty, Ryot and Annarchi.
Fuck your parents for being stupid at names, Rebel.

I like musicals.
That movie was shit. Nothing made sense in it. Just a travesty, full of crap writing.

It might be my extremely immature sense of humor but I laughed almost non stop through Pitch Perfect. Judge me if you will.
And they had the right cast for Gangster Squad but the execution of the plot line felt rushed and therefore bad.

That's what I heard.
I'm gonna skip Jobs and wait for the Sorkin written biopic that was made with the help of Woz.
I think District 9 was better than Elysium.

Anyone seen any of the recent releases in theaters (Don Jon, Rush, Gravity, Enough Said, Prisoners, etc)? I saw all of those save Enough Said. Gravity Rush Prisoners Don Jon In that order, but Don Jon wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Rush was good. Great acting by the German, Bruhl. Hemsworth was good too. Prisoners isn't a movie a lot of people will like but it's well made and is intense. Gravity is good but it's falls a bit short in the story. Still, super impressive. See it in 3D and on a big screen.

Don Jon was just weird at the end. I loved Rush though, absolutely great movie. And yeah, Runner Runner was very meh but Affleck played the role of egotistical asshole very well.
