Wish the Vikes could have dealt for Alex Smith but the cost was a bit high (at the time - maybe by the end of the season it'll be considered a steal).

Alex Smith was Top 5 in Efficiency last season before injury... He is a legit starting QB. He'll manage the game AND use his athleticism to get the extra yardage. He won't WIN a game for you but he doesn't lose many on his own either.

It doesn't matter what the price is or was...it's not like Adrian Peterson is going to have an infinite life span, and you are wasting his good years away on a failure of an experiment of Christian Ponder.

If Cam Newton had half of Smith's game savvy and presence of mind, my Panthers would be much better off.

Agreed. I'm concerned whoever we bring in next won't be ready in time to help AP. Some rumors suggest we make a run at Rivers, but I dunno man.. don't love it.

I'm not a big Rivers guy either, but at this point you have to take any upgrade you can get your hands on...though any post-college player that can throw a spiral would be an upgrade over Ponder.

Ponder is a serious crap sandwich.
And it took Alex SMith like 6 years and a great head coach to become an effective starting Qb, who is to say that Cam cannot develop into a better quarterback if he wasnt stuck w Ron Rivera

Lol. Loved seeing the Vikes shit the bed with the Browns today. Only they could figure out how to lose to Cleveland, it's almost as bad as losing to the Jags. The fake field goal was pure gold, why cover a guy standing alone?
Ponder is trash, waste of a 1st and to be honest I would kick him to the curb along with the coach that won't bench him. Never liked Frazier to begin with. I don't know that Cassell is the answer, but it can't be any worse then Ponder.
Oh well, my game is tomorrow. Peyton vs. Oakland. Raiders usually play Denver tough, here's hoping that the Broncos continue blowing people up.

HEY DOES ANYONE WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE DOLPHINS?
I mean, I always hold the nameless defense of 1972 and on in high regard. But I never thought I'd see a nameless defense AND offense.
Also: for the first time since that guy with the weird Italian name was QB, Dolphins fans are excited for a season. Out of nowhere, this has been a fun first three games.
Watch us lose the next five.

All I know is my Panthers put on a 38-0 pasting of the Giants...and Newton still managed to make ugly decisions half the time. We will take the win though.

Saints just completely shut down the Cards Offense after the first scripted drive. This defense might just be for real... and if it is, WOW. Offense still with turnover bug (Brett Favre 2.0) but looks interesting if Khiry Robinson gets carries. He is a lot like Ivory in that he runs every time like it's the last time he'll ever touch the ball.

Yeah, Vikes looked terrible today. Offensive line is getting overmatched. Even if Ponder was a decent QB (which he isn't right now) he'd have no chance.
Greg Jennings and Cordarrelle Patterson look legit though.
I don't know how you don't cover the wide-open guy on a team who already fake punted on you for a huge gain.
Vikings 4 Clowney!

As a 49ers fan, I don't think I should be allowed to participate in this thread until we stop sucking. Granted there are some major injuries, but still, we've looked pretty bad the last 2 weeks.

I sure hope you lose the next one on MNF vs. Saints. Still trying to determine if I will be in the building or not. Lol

He promises to be good on 15% of the plays he actually plays... which is only about 60% of the total defensive plays. The rest he'll be standing around either on the sideline or where he started the play. An absolute disgrace to watch. I about vomited watching him the first two games this season. LSU ran right over him last season as well.

I'd prefer taking a high-end QB prospect if we're that high.
If draft doesn't have a Peyton or Luck but it seems to have other good passing prospects.

I am not so sure about either but they should go 1 and 2. There are other guys in this draft I really like at certain positions. That San Jose St QB is nice.

How sad is your season going in MN if you are already looking forward to the draft? Seriously, someone just injure Ponder already and get that team working...or at least do that in three weeks, after my Panthers roll up some points on you in Week 6.
