Name: Richard Hamilton Position: SG Number: 32 DOB: February 14, 1978 Age when drafted: 20 College: UCONN Hometown: Coatesville, Pennsylvania Height: 6'6" Weight: 185
Strengths: One the hardest working and best conditioned guards of his era, Hamilton was a prototypical SG who scored at least 17 pppg for 10 straight seasons in his prime. Armed with a deadly midrange game (.852 FT) and a good albeit selective 3 point shot (.346 on 1.7 attempts per game for career). A good handle (2.1 turnovers per game) and an unselfish player, Hamilton could have scored more ppg but focused on winning and can find the open man (3.4 assists per game). A relentless effort defender he plays stingy one on one perimeter defense relying on his length and footwork to stay in front of players.
Weaknesses: Only played 80+ games twice in career and is not much of a rebounder (3.1). Had a rep for not being an assertive enough offensive player during his career. Lack of strength/bulk can cause problems against bigger players.
Significant Info: Nicknamed RIP, 2 Time All American in College, Outstanding Player of Final Four, 3 Time All Star, 1 Championship
