Name: Earl "J.R." Smith III Position: SG/SF Number: 5 DOB: September 9, 1985 Age when drafted: 19 College: St. Benedicts Preparatory School (High School) Hometown: Freehold, New Jersey Height: 6'6" Weight: 220
Strengths: When he's on, he can be a one-man highlight real. Gifted with unlimited range, Smith can hit shots anywhere inside of half-court. His size and tenacity allow him to get to the hoop with relative ease, and he's one of the best jumpers in the NBA. When motivated, he can be a decent defender and his athleticism does create the occasional turnover. All that being said, the reason he'll ever see any minutes in ABCA will be for a bit of instant offense.
Weaknesses: There are a lot of holes in Smith's game. He routinely takes bad shots, and can even shoot his team out of the game. He's not much of a passer, but usually takes bad shots instead of turning the ball over. Defensively, he usually looks to be either ball-watching or day dreaming. He's a glory hound, and he's more likely to gamble on an interception than to try to and defend the ball.
Significant Info: 2012-2013 Sixth Man of the Year, 1x Player of the Week, 3x Rookie of the Month, McDonalds All-American, Potentially the worst shot-selection/decision maker in the NBA.
