Name: Monta Ellis Position: SG/PG Number: 11 DOB: October 26, 1985 Age when drafted: 19 College: None Hometown: Jackson, Mississippi Height: 6'3" Weight: 175
Strengths: A lightning quick combo guard with a strong handle and the ability to find the open man, although not a true distributor (4.8 apg vs 2.8 turnover). Ellis is deadly when he has momentum towards the basket or open looks from midrange. Thrives in pick and roll and pick and pop situations he can score in a variety of ways as illustrated by his 19 ppg career average and a high of 25.5 (9 consecutive year of at least 16.5 ppg). Best at SG and although not a great individual defender he does have great hands that have led to 5 finshes on the top 10 leader board for steals with a career average of 1.7. Strong mid range game and solid at the FT line (.773). Does a good job of getting to the FT line (4.6 attempts per game for career).
Weaknesses: Lack of weight /strength can cause issues and is best paired with a bigger PG. Is a below average three point shooter (.314) yet still attempts almost 3 per game for career. Okay on the glass for his size but is average at best for his position.
Significant Info: 2006-07 Most Improved Player, 2005 McDonald's All American, 5 time player of the week.
