Name: Deron Williams Position: PG Number: 8 DOB: June 26, 1984 Age when drafted: 21 College: Illinois Hometown: The Colony, Texas Height: 6'3" Weight: 210
Strengths: In his prime D-Will is an elite PG who is capable of putting up 18+ points and 10+ assists, which he did 4 consecutive years early in his career during a 7 year stretch where he put up at least 15 points and 7.5 assists per game. Has the ability to use a quick first step and good strength to get in the lane and either finish or dish. Has career line of .447/.358/.819 and in his prime got to the line 5+ times per game. Decent rebounder for a PG (3.2)
Weaknesses: Always dinged up never played 80+ games since third year in the league. Has continued to settle for long jump shots which has seen his FTA's decline and his 3PA rise later in his career. This takes away from his best skills. Not a great defender but is above average and has decent hands (1+ spg). Very inconsistent at times and can be turnover prone (3 per game)
Significant Info: 3rd Team All American, First team All Rookie, 3 x All Star, 2 x All NBA 2nd team, 32nd all time in assists.Up and down career, has steadily declined after leaving Utah. Is an elite talent if he stays motivated.
