Name: Kevin Durant
Position: SF PF
Number: 35
DOB: September 29, 1988
Age when drafted: 19 (2007)
College: University of Texas- Austin
Hometown: Washington, DC
Height: 6'9
Weight: 240
Strengths: Durant is one of the most efficient scorers to enter the league in a long-time. He should have one of the best jump shots in the league from day one. His 3 point was a little erratic when he entered the league, but he has improved his outside shooting efficiency dramatically over the past few years. The other aspects of his offensive game, passing and handling, are above average for a player his height; but he is a high volume scorer and will take a lot of shots. Athletically, Durant is special for a guy his size and has one of the fastest first steps in the league.
Weaknesses: The biggest knock on Durant will always be his weak defense. He has shown some improvement over the last few years, but he still struggles with more conventional SF's. His lack of weight limits his ability to bang in the post with bigger players. He has a penchant for losing his man, and gambles a lot more than he should. He will probably never be more than an average defender. He is also a relatively poor rebounder for his size. His relatively low rebound numbers could be attributed to the fact that he is often leaking out on the fast break, rather than a lack of skill. That being said, he probably will never be a good enough rebounder to really excel at PF.
Final Thoughts: Durant should be a special offensive player. Even as a one and done, he was pretty polished offensively coming into the league. He has a special jump shot and has been a great FT shooter throughout his career. I think defensively and rebounding he was a pretty weak coming into the league, so it would be nice to see him with good starting offensive ratings and a bit of a question mark elsewhere.
