STRENGTHS:
Dwight Howard entered the league with the 1st overall pick and he did not disappoint. Dwight brings to the table elite athleticism for a big man with incredible jumping ability. An outstanding rebounder on both the offensive and defensive glass as showcased by a five year stretch where he never averaged below 13.2 RPG. A defensive marvel in the post, Howard was a true rim protector deflecting and blocking shots and just plain planting a fear in opposing players of entering the paint. He has the defensive accolades to prove it with 3 straight DPOY awards. Using his athleticism and strength he was a good scorer near the basket averaging a career high 22.9 PPG in 10-11.
WEAKNESSES:
Despite the few things he did at superstar level, Dwight had many exploitable weaknesses. Dwight had no jumpshot or outside of the paint game to speak of. If you could keep him at a distance where he could not layup or dunk he was quite stoppable offensively. No real repertoire of moves in the paint hindered his offensive growth. Not a good passer even for a big man. Very weak FT shooting allowed teams to employ a "Hack a Howard" approach.
