STRENGTHS:
Amare Stoudemire came into the league with the 9th overall pick which in hindsight looks like he was passed over by too many teams who should not have overlooked him. Amare brings to the table elite athleticism for a big man with incredible jumping ability which he used to his advantage against opposing big men. He added a nice jumpshot to his reportoire and became an elite scorer early in his career. He had his best season in 07-08 when he averaged 25.2 PPG, 9.1 RPG along with 2.1 BPG. Along with that he was a good FT shooter for a big with a career mark of 76%. Amare on the offensive end was no doubt a beast especially playing with Steve Nash, they would kill teams via the pick and roll because STAT could get to the basket using his jump out of the gym athleticism or he could pull up with his great jumpshot.
WEAKNESSES:
A liability on the defensive end, Amare was not a good on ball defender in the post. Not a great passer even for a big with a career 1.3 APG. Not a great rim protector, blocks usually came from the weak side. Major problems hit Amar'e early and often with his knees and he was basically done as a superstar by age 28.
SIGNIFICANT INFO:
6x NBA All Star, Rookie of the year 2003
