Preliminary Draft Review !

[Moscow]

In order by earliest draft pick - enjoy girls.


1. CSKA – We only had one relevant pick in the entire draft – I won’t pat myself on the back but I can’t hate what I did with what was given. Draft Grade: Dwyane Wade


2. Beermen – Here we go, this team traded Pat Ewing to move up to #2 and draft Pau Gasol. I can’t hate this pick, as I think Pau was the best big in the draft, but I don’t think he’ll ever be on a Ewing level, and I don’t feel it was a strong draft for bigs at all. Draft Grade: B+



3. REAL – Tony seemed like the best pick @ #3, and I definitely didn’t hate the 2nd round guys. Draft Grade: A


4. Bulls – Only real pick was #4. I know they wanted Parker to drop but that wasn’t close to happening. Ended up with Steve Francis, not everything he wanted, but filled a need for this GM. Draft Grade: B



5. Zamalek – Manny Ginobili can be a really good offensive player with A potential across the board, but with that athleticism and D, I’m not loving it at #5. 2nd round pick Jason Williams wasn’t a bad pick, but he’ll need some help to contribute in this league. Draft Grade: C+


6. Aoshen – Brand was a good (not great) pick @ 6. I really like AK47 and Dre Miller picked where they were, and Antawn Jamison looks like a sleeper to me. Draft Grade: A-


7. Rockets – Love Marion @ #7 and Kmart is a personal favourite and pretty good at sim basketball. Draft Grade: A+



8. Maccabi – This guy had a lot of picks. I really like Arenas and Artest @ 8 and 9. Boozer and Battier aren’t the first guys I would pick at their spot, but not far off. 2nd rounders are 2nd rounders. Draft Grade: A-


9. Spurs – Grabbed Baron Davis with #10, I don’t mind the pick, but he looks like a slight drop off from Francis/Arenas. He’s good, but not the best from a BPA perspective. Draft Grade: B


10. Raptors – Traded for Iso Joe Johnson @ #12. I don’t agree that he was BPA here, may be a difference in philosophy. Draft Grade: C


11. Titans – I was pretty meh on Chandler at #13, but really liked Crash @ #23. Anthony Carter isn’t a write-off from the 2nd round. Draft Grade: B+



12. Boca Juniors - Rashard Lewis was just an okay pick for me, scouts seemed to like their 2nd rounders, but I don’t see a lot. Draft Grade: B-



13. Towers – Prince will play a little defense, and doesn’t have a huge weakness, I think he was an okay pick. Draft Grade: B-


14 Anadolu Efes.  I don’t really like the JRich pick, he’s an offensive player with about as much offensive capability as all of these defensive guys. Draft Grade: C



15. Olympia – One pick in this draft, Richard Jefferson @ #16. I’d like to have him, but at that pick I see a few I like more. Draft Grade: C+



16. Kings – Their only pick this year was Mighty Mouse @ #21, and they seemed to regret it. Stoudamire isn’t all-human, but he’s athletic and with a couple good tc’s this won’t be a bad pick at all. Draft Grade: B



17. Bullets- Drafted Emeka Okafor @ #22, he’s an okay player with pretty good athleticism. Maybe there was a need, but I think there were better players available. Draft Grade: C+


18. Franca BC – Antonio Davis wasn’t a bad shot @ #26. Al Harrington is a weird player I don’t like, but shout out to Kerry Kittles’ socks. Draft Grade: B-


19. Lakers – Everyone hates Eddy Curry, and it may be justified. At C+ stamina it’s the lowest I remember seeing. And I’d like to be contrarian, but the hate is pretty close. Draft Grade: C+



20. Sonics – Only pick was Troy Murphy @ #28. He’s okay, about what you can get at 28. Draft Grade: B-



21. KK Partizan  – Their only pick was Ricky Davis @ #29. He’s a guy who, at 19yo, could jump and make me look stupider. Right now he’s a mediocre player on both sides of the ball. Draft Grade: B-



22. Knicks – Brad Miller. Got some hate throughout, but I don’t think anyone can hate him @ #30. Draft Grade: B



23. ALBA - Drafted Keith Van Horn @ #31. He’s 6’11 with some athleticism but not much skill to speak of right now. Hopefully he’ll see a jump to avoid cut day. Draft Grade: C+


24. Warriors – This team’s big pick was Raja Bell @ #33, I think that was the BPA. He might not be good for much, but he can play defense. Draft Grade: B+


25. 76ers – I Like Michael Redd, but his attributes look bad and worst of all – the injury rating is hidden. Draft Grade: C


26. Globetrotters – Fred Hoiberg wasn’t a bad pickup @ #36, unfortunately that was this team’s highest pick. Draft Grade: C+



27. BCZ – Speedy Claxton. Draft Grade: NR

28. Celtics – Chris Mihm. Draft Grade: NR

29. Mahram – Jacque Vaughnn. Draft Grade: NR

30. Pacers – DeMarr Johnson. Draft Grade: NR

31. Panathinaikos – Absent from the draft. Draft Grade: NR

32. Pistons – Didn’t have a pick, no comment on what they were traded for. Draft Grade: Detroit

Cool stuff. I'll take a B for Brad Miller at 30. Seems he slipped through the cracks because he was a lot of mid round teams second option at their pick. Likely doesnt have a big role in season one because i'm still trying to compete but could turn into something nice.

Really happy with Raja as he fits our style and the type of profile we like in our wings. No plans for him to be a earth shattering player but I think he can step in and replace Furlow after this year and frees us up to consider trades a bit more after TC if I don't Titan him

I know men do as a joke but it does so at the expense of women. It's like using "gay" or "retard" as an insult in my book.

I'm just asking you to think about what you put out there and the world that helps shape.

Now I don't mean to derail your thread with social awareness criticism so sorry for that.

Appreciate the kind words on my picks. I'm hoping Parker mixes well with Peja/Allen. He doesn't shoot like they do, but he'll score inside, set others up, and play defense, which they don't do too much of.
