Pros: Scouts around the league have said that DeBusschere's inside game may be the best the league has ever seen. Or, at least he has that kind of potential. He has natural moves that help him in the post but he is also a decent shooter for a big man. Handles the ball like a guard. Not an elite passer but won't turn it over. Has the footwork and size to be a real player on the offensive glass which is huge considering how good he is in the low post. That's easy points all day long on misses.

Cons: He's a project. He has a ways to go to reach his goals but if a team in the mid lotto doesn't have much else going for it they could do a lot worse than waiting on Dave for a year or two. Also, 6'8" isn't ideal but isn't really a setback either. Most of the Power Forwards are around 6'9" anyway. He also isn't the elite shot blocker that Darrall Imhoff is, but then again, not many are. Not a great defender but should be passable. If a team can work with his there that would be best for them.

Overall: Dave DeBusschere may have the highest upside of any big man in the draft. He is also potentially the most raw (of any lotto big man). Could turn into a nice player that makes up for a lot of shooting woes. Isn't going to be a liability on defense but wouldn't be a bad idea to get him into some camps early. I think the rest of his game will come to him and make him good but it won't be right away. He is the ideal pick for a team looking to be back in the lottery next year who needs some post presence (that isn't picking in the top 4-5).

Pros: The Detroit native has been making waves as of late with a number of scouts suggesting that he has the potential to be one of the leagues premier inside threats, given the proper time to adjust to the pro game. He's certainly got a pro-ready frame, which is often a concern for dominant post players making the jump into the league. Scouts around the league have also been quite high on DeBusschere's potential rebounding ability, given his natural size and athleticism. While not an out of this world athletic talent, DeBusschere boasts a gym hardened strength and stamina advantage over a great majority of this year's draft crop.

Cons: Defense is a major concern as he is not a shot blocking threat, nor a shut down post defender. While still serviceable, its unlikely he'll be able to do much to stop the likes of an elite post-scorer like a Maurice Stokes. Despite the potential upside for DeBusschere, scouts are wary about the chances that his defense will ever raise about average. Its unlikely that DeBusschere can be counted on for much production offensively for at least the next few seasons, so the team drafting him will have to be ready to let him grow into the role of a scoring option.

Overall: Dave DeBusschere is certainly an exciting prospect, with the potential to grow into a scary post-scoring threat. However the big caveat here is that he needs to be given time to do this. Teams expecting to get production from their top selection this year might look the other way causing DeBusschere to slip down the lottery. That being said a number of teams with top 10 picks are certainly more geared towards the future, so he could be snatched up as early as the 5th pick, as the top 4 seems to be all but locked up.
