---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STRENGTHS: SG who can play PG if needed. Dumars is a sneaky quick guard with good strength packed into a compact 190lb frame. A career 16ppg scorer he deferred to others throughout his career but did average 17+ppg got 7 consecutive seasons in his peak including 23.5 ppg in 1992-93. A great defender he did so with tenacious on the ball defense. Efficient scorer from the perimeter (.382 from 3/.843 from FT) he was a good overall FG% player until the last 3rd of his career where he became fairly inefficient. Good playmakers (4.5 apg for career) with a solid handle (2.0 tos per game for career).
WEAKNESSES: Not a huge leaper and struggles at time finishing at the room because of it. Despite being a great defender, is not a big steals guy (5 times averaged over 1 steal per game). Can fall in love with the 3pt shot at times avg at least 3.9 3pta/game last 7 years in league. Played a long time but got nicked up fairly often. Does not rebound the ball well even for a guard.
SIGNIFICANT INFO: 2 Time NBA Champion (including 1988-89 Finals MVP), 6 time All Star, All Rookie First Team, 5 Time All Defensive Team (4 First team), 3 All NBA Teams (1-2nd, 2-3rd), 76th All time in 3ptFGM, 68th in Assists (99th Turnovers), 100th All time in Games Played (1018), 9th in Points.
