Name: Anthony Mason Position: PF/SF/C Number: 14 DOB: December 14, 1966 Drafted: 3rd Round (53rd Pick) Age when drafted: 21 College: Tennessee State University Hometown: Springfield Gardens, New York Height: 6’7” Weight: 250 lbs
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STRENGTHS: Strong, Quick and Tenacious Mason will outwork almost any opponent and makes his living on the offensive glass and defensively. He is an efficient offensive player who only takes high percentage shots (Career .509 from the floor) and is an excellent passer and ball handler for a big man (career 3.4 assists per game to 1.8 turnovers.) Although he doesn’t get a lot of steals or blocks, he is a technically sound defender who uses his strength downlow and his quick feet on the perimeter to create problems for the opposition. Durable played for 13 years.
WEAKNESSES: No range to speak of on jumper on a consistent basis and an average at best FT shooter for a big (.709). Limited scorer on the block in part due to a rawness to his game and more due to his unselfish nature. Lack of height limits him against the most talented posts defensively despite a high skill level.
SIGNIFICANT INFO: 1 time All Star, 1994-85 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, 1996-97 All Defensive 2nd Tea,, 1996-97 All NBA Third Team. 94th All Times Offensive Rebounding, 84th All Time FG%. Durable played 80+ games 7 of 11 seasons once making it full time in the league.
