Name: Mike Mitchell
Position: SF
Number: 30/34
DOB: January 1, 1956
Age when drafted: 23
College: Auburn
Hometown: Atlanta, Georgia
Height: 6ft 7
Weight: 215 lbs
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STRENGTHS: A big time career scorer at every level, got most of his points in the lane or the shorter jump shots. Shot 49% from the field and 77% from the line with about 3-4 attempts per game. The only player on the spurs who led the team in scoring while George Gervin was on the team. WAs a solid winner as his team made the playoffs 6 times in his career. Did not have a high turnover % either which was nice for a big time scoring threat.
WEAKNESSES: Not a great 3pt shooter with only a .219% career percentage. Decent though not a super special rebounder from the sf spot
SIGNIFICANT INFO: We have a real life Mike Mitchell running the Brazil franchise right now so its fun to see this one entering the league. Nice thing here is this mike mitchell in the draft is a tall, athletic sf which is the exact opposite of the short white guy with big calves. The NBA mitchell was also a guy who played a ton of min everywhere he played so he was durable to. After his 12 year NBA career, Mitchell played another 3-4 seasons over sees. Mitchell is likely to be a guy over looked entering the draft but he was a quality player who should be able to help a team right away and for big min given the right situation.
