Name: James William Cartwright Position: C Number: 25 DOB: 7/30/1957 College: University of San Francisco Hometown: Lodi, CA Height: 7'1" Weight: 245 lbs --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STRENGTHS: Bill Cartwright was the #3 pick in the 1979 draft and managed to contribute meaningfully for 16 years. While many remember his three titles with the Chicago Bulls, some forget his best years were his early seasons with the New York Knicks, where Cartwright flourished as a starter before the drafting of Patrick Ewing moved him to a backup role. While over his whole career Cartwright averaged 13.2 ppg and 6.3 rpg, his first two years saw seasons of over 20 points a game. You have to wonder what his career would have looked like if he hadn't had so many injuries and Ewing hadn't appeared. WEAKNESSES: For a man of 7'1", Cartwright was never a great shot blocker, averaging over 1.2 bpg only twice in his career. He also only average 8.0 rebounds per 36 minutes for his career...a number which didn't improve even in his best years. ADDITIONAL NOTES: Cartwright was a 1-time All-Star and a 3-time NBA champion. His only All-Star appearance was as a rookie, when he had the best season of his 16-year NBA career. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ins 3 Jps 3 Fts 4 3Ps 1 Hnd 2 Pas 1 ORb 2 DRb 4 PsD 4 PrD 1 Stl 1 Blk 3 Qck 2 Str 4 Jmp 2 Sta 4
