| Name: Vinnie Johnson Position: Guard Number: 15 DOB: September 1, 1956 College: Baylor Hometown: Brooklyn, New York Height: 6'2 Weight: 200
|
STRENGTHS: It didn't take Johnson long to warm up when he entered the game and he could score points in a hurry, giving him the nickname of the "Microwave". His best asset was his mid range jumpshot which was very effective. A good athlete for the guard position, especially with his strength. A good rebounder for his size and position, notably on the offensive end, in his second season he was the NBA’s top guard in offensive rebounding, averaging 2.3 per game. WEAKNESSES: Johnson didn't really have a set position to be a full time starter, too small for the shooting guard and didnt't have the point guard skills to run a team. Johnson thrived coming off the bench as a combo guard. Streaky shooter, could be prone to throwing up too many shots even if it wasn't falling. Not a very good three point shooter, shot .254 for his career on 327 attempts. SIGNIFICANT INFO: 2× NBA Champion (1989–1990) and his #15 was Retired by the Detroit Pistons. Vinnie made a 14-foot shot with just seven-tenths of a second (00.7) left on the clock, beating the Portland TrailBlazers 92-90 in Game 5 of the finals, to give Detroit the Championship.
