STRENGTHS: Magic Johnson is the cream of this class and could clearly do it all. In his career, Johnson averaged 19.5 ppg, 7.2 rpg and 11.2 apg. His assists per game is a full .6 a game higher than #2 John Stockton, who is the only other player to average over 10 assists a game (just to put in perspective how elite his assists numbers were). What is scary is if Norn Nixon hadn't actually played point for the Lakers Johnson's first four years, those numbers would be even higher. Magic was able to successfully play and defend all five positions, making him not only the greatest point guard of all-time, but easily one of the most special players in the game's history.
WEAKNESSES: If you are absolutely going to nitpick and put something here, Magic was in the top 10 in turnovers every season he wasn't injured. That goes hand in hand, however, with being in the top 3 in assists every one of those seasons except his rookie year. Still, averaging nearly 4 turnovers a game should be listed as a negative.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Magic was a 5-time NBA champion, 3-time NBA Finals MVP, 3-time NBA regular season MVP, 12-time All-Star and a Hall of Famer. He was also a member of the Dream Team and was named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. Johnson was the #1 pick, won the NBA Finals and was the Finals MVP in 1979, yet he wasn't the rookie of the year...he lost to Larry Bird, who wasn't even drafted that season. (Bird was drafted the year before but stayed in school for one more year before joining the Celtics).
