Name: Sidney Alvin Moncrief
Position: SG
Number: 4
DOB: 9/21/57
College: University of Arkansas
Hometown: Little Rock, Arkansas
Height: 6'3
Weight: 187 lbs
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STRENGTHS: Moncrief was a very versatile player, but his calling card is his smothering defense. One of the best defensive wings in the history of the game, he took home 2 Defensive Player of the Year trophies, the first 2 ever awarded. He shot over 50% for his career and over 80% from the free throw line. While his basic offensive stats do not scream elite, the metrics back up his case. He ranks 6th all time in Offensive rating and 29th in true shooting%. He is also 29th all time in win shares/48 minutes, ranking ahead of such greats as Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Moses Malone, Dr J and his draft classmate Kevin McHale. This meant he contributed more to winning on a per minute basis than any of those players.
WEAKNESSES: Similar to the Bio done on Adrian Dantley, Moncrief's true shooting percentage was quite high due to him rarely pulling the trigger on 3 pointers. When he did, he hit them at a below average clip. He's a bit small for the position, but this shouldn't hurt him too much.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Moncrief is the only perimeter player to win 2 defensive player of the year awards. He made 4 All-NBA second teams and 1 first team. He is widely regarded as one of the top few players not in the hall of fame and would certainly be in already if knee injuries did not prevent him from having a longer career.

“Sidney could do everything, He was a lot stronger than he looked. He could post low; he had good sharp cuts in terms of jump shooting. He had perfect form – you’d want a kid to model jump shots after his.”--Larry Bird
“What impresses me about Sidney is how hard he has always played, every minute. He is so talented, and I think of him as one of the quiet superstars – but superstar he is.”--Magic Johnson
