I know we have some writers in here.
Drew writes music, MrV writes a for about 3-dozen blogs, etc.
I wanted to open up a thread about writing, any part of it, the process, recommendations, what you've been doing lately - anything that supports the craft, that's what this thread is for.
For me, I do short scripts right now.
I've been writing them for 5 years now (and then for many years before that with Roark in a way..) and to be honest I haven't written in a while now. I have 3-5 stories on various burners right now and need to find one that sticks out to me most or get onto something else.

Well, no sure this counts as what you wanted to discuss in this thread, but I've had two college professors and a large company CEO tell me I should be a writer based on the papers I wrote (professors) and article I wrote about his company (Graphics). Funnily enough, my BFF is an English major and he always makes fun of me because I don't always know the meaning of words but know how they "fit" and get good grades regardless.

I write movie and book reviews online, but that's about it.

Yeah. Writing. It's part of my job. ( www.eatingelephant.com) I wrote a blog post about writing, actually, just the other day. And by "just the other day" I mean "like a month ago or something." www.blackmarks.net/2013/06/13/becoming-the-audience-again/CURRENTLY I am writing a chapter for the upcoming Smashing Magazine book on design, so that's taking more time that I'd otherwise use writing for Black Marks on Wood Pulp or Eating Elephant. I used to write about sports more. I have a post waiting in the wings, but writing takes TIME you know?

It does!
It's very time consuming (well for me it is because what I write requires re-writes, and re-writes, and re-writes) but I still enjoy it.
I don't know if anyone else has read Stephen King's ON WRITING but that was a helpful book to me. Its been so long I think I should go back and read it again. I've also read countless books on screenwriting but they all basically tell you the same thing, so.. maybe that was a waste.

Also: Anne Lamott's Bird By Bird is really valuable.

As John mentioned I write music, currently just the production/composition side of things, but looking to branch into 360 song writing soon. I'm a big fan of all forms of creative writing, especially those that I can't really do. A big fan of screenplay writers, tv writers, comic book writers, authors and journalists.
Still looking fwd to the day that we get to have a league wide private screening of a "JScott joint."

I should never write again. My writing is horrible at best. You all are professional or semi pro writers it seems.
