Just curious since Birdsong has been a Knick for a while.
Knicks Send Otis Birdsong Brad Miller
Beijing Aoshen Send 14th Overall Pick Detroit 2029 First Rounder Antwan Jamison
I'll hold my thoughts on the trade because i'm obviously biased but here's my reasoning behind the deal. I just won a title so I was okay taking a risk as i've done in the past (trading Schayes for rookies, trading my entire core for picks that I flipped for Imhoff, trading Hondo for a first, trading Furlow for a first, trading for a rookie Zoran who was a backup). My salary situation was managable 78020961 with 8 guys signed this year (my starting lineup was locked in though). 60+ million next year with a bunch of free agents if I keep Hayes and 40620255 with only two starters signed (Dantley+Birdsong) if I declined Hayes. Plus despite the "sentimental value" attached to Birdsong he was my 4th most important player behind Dantley, Hayes, and Zoran these past two years.
Now I still have my top 3, some young bigs, and picks to continue building my team and next off-season I can walk in with Dantley and Leavell signed, 3 first round picks, and nearly 40+ million and cap space to retool.

knicks by a lot -- birdsong is 32 and has 3 years left -- a lotto pick + a potential lotto pick is great value. I couldn't even extract either pick for KAJ and he's probably more valuable than birdsong. Good job nyk. One step back to make 2 forward. Now trade my KT!

NY by a bit for the same reasons Sydney said before he apparently hit his head and said KAJ was more valuable than Birdsong is.

This year's low lotto pick is about right but getting DET's 29 is a big get. You never know how that could go.
Nice haul for Otis who is still very good but is definitely getting up there in age.
