Adrian Dantley - New York Knicks
The Knicks are once again a favourite to win the it all, led by their perennial all-star Adrian Dantley. This guy's been to camp more often then that annoying kid that lived down the street. Averaging 29-7-5 during the season, if all goes as planned this guy will take home MVP. The only way this guy doesn't win the MVP is if the Knicks don't claim the title, or if one of Dantley's teammates steals the show. Based purely on odds, Dantley is the favourite.
Zoran Slavnic - New York Knicks
With an outstanding performance, Slavnic could steal the MVP from Dantley. Slavnic posted career highs in points and assists this season, with 23 and 13. Should he find a way to fill the basket a little more under the playoff spotlight, combined with a Knicks championship run, he is my favourite to bring home the trophy. Slavnic is known for playing well in the playoffs, posting 29 points and 13.5 assists in last year's playoffs.
Mark Aguirre - Sydney Kings
These playoffs are huge for Aguirre. Will he elevate his game and lead his team to a championship? Or are we seeing a guy with all the potential in the world let down his teammates again. The Kings had a great run last year, and anything short of a championship this year will be a disappointment. Aguirre has all the pieces around him to facilitate success - the question is whether or not he takes the reigns.
Larry Johnson - Sidney Kings
It's hard to imagine the Kings winning the the title with Aguirre not leading the way, but Larry Johnson is quickly overtaking Aguirre as the King's leader. Should the Kings manage to win the championship, with Aguirre playing a mediocre offensive game, LJ could very well take home the MVP.
Michael Jordan - London Towers
If the Towers win the title, Jordan will win the MVP - no doubt about it. We are seeing greatness in London right now, and the league isn't giving Jordan enough respect. People around the league need to wake up. Maybe what everyone needs to see from MJ is a solid playoff run to earn him the respect, and nows a perfect opportunity. London has a very solid supporting staff around MJ, which is exactly the environment he wants.
Shawn Kemp - San Miguel Beermen
For a 58 win team, the Beermen have flown under the radar a little bit this season. Led by their soft-spoken GM, the Beermen could make it to the finals. Losing Ewing last year hurts, but by trading him away they clearly gave the controls to Kemp. An absolute stud and one of the best players in the league, if the Beerman win it will be Kemp as MVP.
Dominique Wilkins - Washington Bullets
The Bullets might be the biggest sleeper team in the playoffs, and the addition of McHale could turn out well. If the team can pull off a couple upsets, they could win. Wilkins does not want to go down as one of the best ABCA Legends players to never win a title, so this year could be his best shot at getting a ring.
JoJo White/Danny Manning/Ivan Bisson/Arpad Losonczy
Normally JoJo would be the favourite on the Sonics to win the MVP for his team, but at his age and with the productive players around him, if the Sonics win this could go any way. Look for JoJo's playoff experience to shine through and take charge though.
Len Bias - San Antonio Spurs
The spurs had a surprising season, posting the 2nd best record in the entire league. Bias led the team in scoring with 26 ppg, and if the Spurs are going to make a title run he will need to do even more. Known around the league as the poor-mans Charles Barkley, Bias is looking to create a name for himself this year by matching Barkley's 2025 Playoff MVP and lead the team to the promise land.
Fat Lever - San Antonio Spurs
Could Fat Lever channel his inner Zoran Slavnic, and quarterback his team to a championship? He will need to get his teammates some open shots while being productive himself. Lever averaged 20 ppg and 9 apg this season, which are great regular season numbers, but if the Spurs have any chance of winning he's going to need to post even better numbers then that.
Hakeem Olajuwon - Los Angeles Lakers
Coming off his second straight MVP season, the question is whether Hakeem can carry the entire city on his back to a championship. That's the only way the Lakers have a chance, and if he can pull it off he will not only win the playoffs MVP, but will cement his legacy as one of the best ABCA Legends players of all time.
Ralph Sampson - San Fransisco Warriors
The reigning champs traded away their playoff MVP, and it was a bit of a head scratcher. When was the last time something like that happened? The Warriors front office have openly admitted they are going through a transition phase, and while they were able to muster out a very impressive regular season - capped off with a 12-1 run to end it - do they really have what it takes to repeat? If they do, it'll require phenomenal efforts from Sampson and Scott. Should a miraculous repeat happen, Sampson should take home the MVP.
Alex English - Berlin ALBA
English is a guy any GM wants on his team, but does ALBA have what it takes to make a serious run this year? They made major roster changes, but will the guys they acquired step up in the playoffs? There's an odd stench surrounding this Berlin roster, and analysts aren't sure what to make of the team. They are simply not an appealing organization right now.
