Ok, is it just me or is there something seriously wrong with the courts this year? So far there have been at least 7 players that have withdrawn from injuries, and that isn't including Sharapova, who lost after taking more a couple ugly looking spills during her loss. I'm just a casual tennis fan, but I can't remember a major tournament with this many injuries/falls this early and often...am I wrong?

Yeah, looks quite slick out there. Lots of dead spots as well. Kinda sad looking.

I used to watch it but it is a pretty sad state when a tennis club that brings in that much revenue can't get things fixed better than that.

This is actually the second tennis thread I believe...don't forget the epic rant against Nadal from KK before.

That's why I was surprised.
We needed a second one?

Yes...I had a legitimate answer to a tennis-related question, and I didn't want it typed up in a lunatic's rant.

The courts are made faster for the first few rounds but will be slowed down for the last 2 IIRC. This prevents 5 hour drag fests for the first couple rounds (5 IIRC). It'll get interesting now.
Murray is going up against a serve-and-volley Polish kid (22 years old) who's 6'8" and has a massive serve (obviously).
Djokovic is going up against a serve-and-volley Argentinian kid (24 years old) who's 6'6" and has a massive serve (also obviously).
Both could potentially lose despite being favorites which would then lead to a 6'8" vs 6'6" finale...
However, the Djokovic/Del Potro match will be VERY interesting. Neither of them has dropped a single set this entire tournament. Murray looked very shaky in his last match against the Spaniard Verdasco who played about as well as you could for the first 2 sets but lost 3 in a row to lose the match.

I'm in London right now and the streets near where I'm staying were literally empty during match time. Great to see Andy finally win Wimb.

Kinda ironic. Dont really follow politics that closely but not sure I see them voting in favour of it but possibly yes.
