Name: Andrei Kirilenko Position: Forward Number: 47 DOB: February 18, 1981 Age when drafted: 18, 1999 NBA Draft College: - Hometown: Izhevsk, Russia Height: 6'9 Weight: 220 lbs |
STRENGTHS:
Known for his defense, a top defender in the league. Very versatile on the defensive end, has huge wingspan and the quickness that allowed him to play either forward position and guard almost anyone on the floor. Could do it all on the defensive end, was a great shot blocker, averaging 2.6bpg during his first 6 seasons in the league, including over 3bpg in two seasons, also averaging 1.4spg for his career. Didn't carry a lot of weight but was wiry-strong. On offensive most of his points came from cuts to the basket, which he was very effective at, or spot up shooting. Good passer and decent rebounder.
WEAKNESSES:
Suffered from shooting slumps during his career, struggled when he had to create his own shot and didn't like driving to the basket. Was a bit turnover prone. His most productive years were the first 6 seasons in the NBA but after that his production slipped off.
SIGNIFICANT INFO:
NBA All-Star (2004), NBA All-Defensive First Team (2006), 2× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2004–2005), NBA blocks leader (2005), EuroBasket MVP (2007), Euroleague MVP (2012). One of the few players in the NBA to put up the 5x5 stat line (5points, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks), which he did multiple times.
