Pros: Greek prospect Georgios Trontzos is gifted with your prototypical build for a point guard, coming in at 6-2, 193 lbs. Trontzos is also relatively young, choosing to make the jump to the ABCA at the young age of 20. His game focuses around his very solid fundamentals, with a textbook perfect form jump shot mixed with good ball handling skills and blistering speed. His handles and passing are decent as of right now, but several scouts project that these are two areas in which the young Greek player wil only continue to improve. Has been making strides defensively as well, impressing a number of teams at various workouts.
Cons: Georgios will never be a great scorer, as he lacks any real inside game or finish ability. Also while he possesses a great jumpshot, his range stops short of the ABCA 3-point line. As of now Georgios is much more suited to play backup PG, than start given his relatively limited offensive and defensive capabilities. Passing is definitely an area in which Trontzos must improve if he hopes to reach the upper echelon of talented point guards in this league.
Overall: While not nearly as hyped as Lenny Wilkens or Kari Liimo, Trontzos is a very exciting young prospect with the potential to improve into a great starting point. The physical tools are certainly there, and age is on his side, but even then Trontzos is a bit of a gamble. Should his handles and passing increase as projected, then he will be a steal for a non-lotto team. I don't see him going in the lotto simply due to the abundance of good point guard options in the league compared to post or wing positions.
Projection: 14-20
