Pros: The most polished inside scorer of the entire draft class. Also has decent shooting ability for his size, and is a stellar free throw shooter for a Center. Above average strength and a very imposing frame are likely to translate on both the offensive and defensive boards. Could very well move to the power forward slot, where he will be an intimidating physical matchup for most 4s. Cons: At 6-9 Beaty is rather undersized, which is reflected in his lack of blocking ability. Could become a liability defensively, and is likely going to need some help in the post from a better defender/shot blocker. While far from the consensus, some scouts have expressed worry that Beaty has nearly reached his peak offensively. Overall: Where Beaty falls will reflect how GMs in the lotto value current skill vs potential skill. As stated earlier he enters the draft as the best inside scorer, but many other prospects are expected to improve vastly over time. Beaty who looks to mature into a beast on the boards, could very well be even better once moved to the more natural position of PF. Whoever drafts Beaty will be getting a solid post player with the potential to be an imposing presence on the glass, an area where a number of teams would be well served to improve. Projected: 11-15
