Pros: The BYU standout offers nearly everything that you want from a one guard. Coming in at 6-2, Liimo has the prototypical frame for a pro level point guard. Liimo already has a polished jump shot, with ever increasing range Liimo certainly will offer production in the scoring department. Liimo offers a quickness only topped by the freakish speed of Wilkens and West. His ball handling ability is also an area of strength, with scouts anticipating will only get better. Passing while currently on the low side for an ABCA starter, is another area which scouts are rather sure will improve.
Cons: At 165 lbs, Liimo is a relatively weak player, so don't expect him to get physical any time soon. Defense is also an area of concern, and is one area in which scouts are not sold that he will improve. Not nearly as starter ready as Lenny Wilkins, Liimo is much more of a long term project. Has been none to get abused when posted up, often requiring help defense.
Overall: Lenny Wilkins is the premier point guard prospect in this years draft, and was projected to go in the top 4 by most experts. However KK Partizan has openly voiced his interest in Liimo, and is trying to find a way to trade down to get him. If no trades are found are Partizan high enough on Liimo that they would take him at the 4? We will have to see. If Partizan can't trade down and takes Wilkins instead Liimo could fall a bit, but will probably be snatched up by the Hawks at 8.
Projected: 4-8
