Name: Jerry Stackhouse Position: SG/SF Number: 42 DOB: Born: November 5th, 1974 Age when drafted: 21 (1995) College: North Carolina Hometown: Kinston, NC Height: 6'6 Weight: 218 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STRENGTHS: Jerry Stackhouse was an excellent wing player in his day averaging 22 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in his 5 seasons in Detroit during his peak. He was a crafty passer and excellent at getting to the free throw line, averaging 5.8 for his career. He definitely had the ability to put points up on the scoreboard. He was very athletic and in the 2000 Dunk Contest. His athleticism also allowed him to block a decent amount of shots for a 2 guard. Very good FT shooter. WEAKNESSES: Stackhouse was not an efficient scorer, averaging only 40.9% for his career, and 30% from 3. He turned the ball over a decent amount for a non-PG, and he didn't generate a lot of steals for a wing, though he was average on that end. He was never an outstanding man to man defender, especially against SF. Name: Jerry Darnell Stackhouse AKA Stack Position: Shooting Guard Number: 42 DOB: November 5, 1974 Age when drafted: 1995 NBA Draft (20) College: University of North Carolina Hometown: Kinston, North Carolina Height: 6'6" Weight: 218 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STRENGTHS: Selected with the third overall pick, Jerry Stackhouse burst onto the scene right away showing the scoring prowess he would have throughout his career. He averaged more 20 PPG in a season 6 times times in his career and with a season high 29.8 in 00-01. Stack had the athleticism to get to the charity stripe with a career 5.8 free throw attempts per game and in 00-01 reached a career high 10.1 attempts per game. Stackhouse was good at the line shooting at a 82% clip for his career. WEAKNESSES: Stack was a volume shooter, in fact never shooting better then .435% in a season throughout his career. This was a result of him just being a little bit better then the rest of the guys on okay teams. Was not a good rebounder even for an off guard and his assist totals leave a lot to be desired. Just could not take care of the ball, 2.7 TOV for his career. Not a good on ball defender either and offered nothing in the way of steals for a guard.
