Name: Christian Laettner
Position: Power Forward
Number: 32
DOB: August 17, 1969
Drafted: First Round (3rdPick)
Age when drafted: 22
College: Duke
Hometown: Buffalo, New York
Height: 6’11”
Weight: 235 lbs
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STRENGTHS: Well rounded post who is best suited for the Power Forward position. Has a nice jumpshot out to about 17 feet and excellent touch for a big man hitting .820 of his FT’s for his career. He can knock down the wide open 3 (.261) but it more of a mid range player. He has the ability to score on the block, but is a little slow and a little ground bound which hurts him against more athletic players and resulted in a ..480 career FG%. He does understand position and although not a great one on one defender he helps a lot defensively which resulted in 5 seasons averaging at least 1 block and 1 steal per game. He can find the open man for a big. Played 13 years in the NBA but struggled with injuries the last third of his career.
WEAKNESSES: As mentioned above lacks the athletic prowess of the elite bigs especially in terms of jumping and quickness. He is turnover prone and struggles with double teams at times twice. Not a great rebounder for his position. Never met high expectations in the league. Foul prone, 5 times finished in the top 10 in personal fouls.
SIGNIFICANT INFO: 1 Time All Star (1997), Twice finished in the top 10 in FTM, NBA All Rookie First Team. Final Four Most Outstanding Player, AP Player of the Year, Wooden Award Winner, Naismith Player of the Year and two time All American (1 first team)
