Name: Ron Harper Position: Shooting Guard Number: 4 DOB: January 20, 1964 Drafted: First Round, 8thOverall Age when drafted: 23 College: Miami University Hometown: Dayton, Ohio Height: 6'6” Weight: 185 lbs
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STRENGTHS: Long, athletic two guard (pre injury) who can also play backup minutes at the point if need. Harper is a leaper and slasher who scores mainly by getting into the paint. He is a defensive nightmare for opponents and averaged over 2 steals and close to a block per game in his prime. A very good rebounder for a guard (career 3.9 but in his prime around 5 per game) and good passer (career 3.9 assists). Gets to the FT line a lot.
WEAKNESSES: Had major turnover problems, especially early in his career (3+turnovers per game through his prime) Only an okay shooter for a guard (.career .720 FT) and not much of a 3 point threat (Career .289). Injuries are a concern for somebody who relies on his athleticism so much.
SIGNIFICANT INFO: 5 time NBA Champion, NBA All Rookie First Team, 21st all time in steals (35th in steals per game) Durability concerns due to severe knee injury in NBA Career, but still played great until 30 and then several more years after that.
