Anyone travel somewhere cool recently or ever? I love international travel so I thought I'd ask.
Only reason I thought of this is because I'm currently in Quebec..

Never been to Quebec thouh my over experiences in Canada were pretty good.
I've been to Mexico twice (Playa del Carmen about an hour souh of Cancun, and Puerto Vallarta).
Went to Hawaii (Maui) two Spring Breaks and that was rad (great food and the whales were there).
Other than that I try and make a yearly pilgrimage to Telluride Colorado (for a film fest) which is the best places I've visited but I'm a sucker for Mountains and movies.

Iceland was a lot of fun, if you go do it during the summer, you know when the sun never goes down

I went to Rwanda earlier this summer. That was my first time out of the States. I'd love to go back to Sub-Saharan, ebola-less Africa again pretty soon. Otherwise, I've been to pretty most of the continental United States. I haven't been to the Dakotas, so I want to go to the Badlands sometime. I've never been to Arkansas/Louisiana/Mississippi, but I'm not sure I want to aside from Mardis Gras. I also haven't been further north than New York, so visiting New England would be nice. I'd love to go to Toronto or Vancouver. I'd also really like to take a trip into Latin America and/or South America, so I'm jealous of Chicago. And, yeh, gotta take the trip around Europe as well.
But I'm probably going to be fairly poor for the next five years, so we'll see just how much I get to travel around.

That's awesome guys! I'm super jealous of Chicago.
Madrid, I've been trying to go to sub-Saharan Africa for years but I can't convince my parents to spend the money for a family vacation there so ill have to go once I'm on my own budget. How was it there?
I absolutely loved Hawaii when we went there for a couple weeks. Other than that, I had about a 5-6 year run of awesome trips when I was younger including London, Belguim (w/ a day trip to Paris), Cancun, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas. After 6 years of not leaving the continental US, I did a two week trip with 14 friends on an exchange type thing to Scotland.
If you guys ever stay in Quebec, Old City is absolutely amazing.

I travel a little for work to help people figure out their websites, but rarely any place super awesome. Was in Boston for a few days recently, otherwise it's been Richmond, Long Island, Boise, and luxurious Wichita.
When I speak, however, I get to go to much nicer places. I've spoken at conferences in San Diego, Atlanta, and Cape Town, as well as several in Minneapolis (which is still one of the best big cities in the US).
Most of the time, though, we are heading to the DC area (where my wife's parents live) or to the Teton region, where my family has lived forever and ever.

went to 1. amsterdam a few year back and if you like bicycles and good times this places in a blast. Plus a bunch of really cool museums.
2. Interlaken, Switzerland during swiss national day (august 1)...might be the best time I have ever had in my life. Parades, fireworks, all sorts of adventure possiblities...really cheap places to stay if you are smart and willing to stay at hostels. There is one with the craziest waterslides which i used for 7 hours straight. just a wonder places....plus hiking in the alps.
3. Ireland, Ennis...Doolin...Fanore Beach....Dublin.....Ireland=Fun if you like castles and shit.....i do.
4. Florence, Italy. Great place to walk around, and a good place to hop off from in Italy, Hit the trains and explore.

We went to some local street fairs and ate at neighborhood places.

nova scotia (Halifax) is a great spot for good local beer, they have a bunch of microbrew types places. Nice waterfront area, museums ,tall ships etc....
baltimore was interesting nice sports city. Camden Yards is a great place to see a baseball game and you can bring in your own snacks, reminds me of years ago....It is rough not far from the inner harbor area though.

Madrid, I've been trying to go to sub-Saharan Africa for years but I can't convince my parents to spend the money for a family vacation there so ill have to go once I'm on my own budget. How was it there? I can only tell you about Rwanda, which was spectacular. It's a great place for an expensive vacation. None of the hotels are spectacular, but you can stay in Hotel de Mille Collines (the hotel from Hotel Rwanda), which is one of the nicest ones, at a really good rate. Food isn't as cheap as you'd expect, though, but you can still get a nice meal for the cost of a sub at Jimmy John's. Coffee is expensive, and beer is generally about $1-3 in a bar. I know a lot of people like to go to developing countries and stay in really nice areas to sort of feel at home while taking advantage of natural beauty. Kigali has nice pockets (as do some other cities), but you really can't get away from feeling like you're in a developing country. Hardly anywhere has A/C, few roads are paved, and people are everywhere (population density is ridiculous). But, it is incredibly clean. Kigali has street sweepers to keep the roads clean, plastic bags are illegal, eating on the street is taboo, trash cans are difficult to find, and once every month, everyone spends a day doing community service (mostly cleaning, maintenance, and trash removal, called Umuganda). It is really trying to turn into the Singapore of Central-Eastern Africa. Violence and crime in Kigali are at roughly Indianapolis levels. Reconciliation efforts have done wonders for the country, so ethnic tension doesn't really exist anymore. But, armed guards are on every block and the central government is rather authoritarian. Everyone is very welcoming to foreigners because they think they're all investors. Everywhere I went, little kids were running at us screaming "Mzungu! Mzungu!" (white person), and trying to hug our legs. Pretty much everyone under 30 speaks English fairly well (and they love practicing it). English became their official language a few years ago, but most of the older population still speaks French and Kinyarwanda. In rural areas, you can see people growing bananas, plantains, and coffee. The country has beautiful hills and mountains, volcanoes, savannas, a lake, gorillas, and monkeys. Oh yeh, perhaps best of all, the weather is amazing. Rwanda's right around the equator, so you'd think it'd be hot, but the elevation of most of the country keeps the weather between 60-80 degrees year-round. They have 2-3 rainy seasons, so if I were you, I'd try to go in between when they occur. Otherwise, assuming you want to avoid West Africa because of ebola, I've heard Ethiopia is nice, as well as most of southern Africa (notably Botswana). I think the entire East African Community (Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, and probably South Sudan soon) is going to undergo rapid development in the next 10-20 years, so keep an eye on all those countries. I'd stay away from Sudan/South Sudan, Nigeria, and Kenya for the next few years because of conflict. And never, ever, even think about going to Somalia or the DRC.
