Len Bias
Position : Small Forward
Height : 6' 8"
Weight : 210 lbs
Age : 21
Attributes :
SCORING = B B- B- C-
HANDLING = C- D
REBOUNDING = C C
DEFENSE = C C C C
ATHLETICISM = A- B+ A- A
Bias is an NBA-ready scorer. Very quick, solid jumping abilities, strong enough to fight big defenders and good finisher under the rim, he has everything to scorer consistenly in the paint. Terrific athlete overall.
On the other hand, his mid-range game is average at best, his free throw shooting is terrible and he can't score from beyond the arc. Terrible passer, not a strong rebonder either, weak defender.
Potential :
SCORING = B B A C
HANDLING = C D
REBOUNDING = C B
DEFENSE = B B C C
In the future, Bias should get solid from mid range and stop being a liability on the line. He's also expected to become a solid defender, both in the paint and outside. Some improvements in rebounding as well.
But he will never be a playmaker, even a weak one. And he won't get steals or blocks either.
High school and college career :
He was ranked #11 overall in high school and considered the best SF of his age. He spent only one year in college, with Duke, where he played only 12.3 minutes a game. But he showed his scoring abilities with 5.1ppg, .487 FG% and .423 3P%. This means 14.9ppg if he played 36 minutes, not bad for a freshman.
Overall :
One of the rare players combining NBA readiness and larger potential. His current ability for anything else than scoring is non-existent but he can score 15-20ppg as a rookie and be an All Star in a few years.
Projection : 3-10
He's the theoretical #3 of this draft class but teams may choose younger players like Schrempf, Bailey, Petrovic or big men like Sampson, Carroll, Belostenny, Tkachenko, Eaton... before him. This draft is so crowded he could even slip out of the top 10.
