STRENGTHS: Len Bias will forever be known as one of the more tragic tales in basketball, as only two days after being selected #2 by the Boston Celtics, Bias passed away from a drug overdose. Considered one of the greatest players to never reach the NBA, Bias was a star for the 4 years he played at Maryland, reaching new heights as a senior when he averaged 23.2 ppg and 7.0 rpg on 54.4% shooting. Bias shot 86.4% from the free throw line as a senior, proving he was more than capable of knocking down the freebies when the pressure was on.
WEAKNESSES: Turnovers might be the biggest deficit in Bias' game, as he turned the ball over almost three times a game as a senior while only averaging 1.0 assist. Bias also was a relatively light rebounder compared to other college forwards and his defensive counting stats (blocks and steals) were beyond subpar.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Len Bias was a 2-time ACC Player of the Year, as well as the ACC Athlete of the Year in 1986. He was a one time consensus first team All-American and a one-time consensus second team All-American. He was only 22 years old when he died.
