Don't get it for Cairo 1 bit. They had one of the best SGs in the game and traded him for a less talented SG and Willy S? and swapping his pick for a London one? Ugh

Dammit I was making the thread London! lol
Yeah I have to go London on this one. Walter Davis is a nice prospect but London gets probably the best defensive SG in the game back, that he has already had success with (I think Sloan is very underrated around here). Plus I don't think London has ever had a bad 1st since i've been here, I think he just acquired a better 2022 pick and the best player in the trade.
It gives Cairo a more complete starting lineup as he didn't have a starting C, but I liked the team he was building before. But if Davis pans out or he makes a 2nd trade to flip some of the young guys he has for something then i'll probably like it more. But for right now I have to go with London on this one.

He may get a center, but I don't know many successful starting Cs with C/C+ PSD. Rule was a great backup big. John got the best player in the deal without it costing a whole lot since I'm sure resigning Willy wasn't in his longterm plans

I figured he'd resign (or I was willing to risk it) if he was happy. I think he's better than some and I think he'll get paid accordingly in FA so the goal was to lock up assets longer and. Dandridge is signed for another season. Plus I needed a backup SF more than another SG.

Like I said, great move for you. Sloan is worth so much more then what it'll cost to resign Willy (who I personally don't think is in the same ballpark as Sloan) and betting on potential and a pick that has never been good in the league

You guys need to stop judging the trade on it's own merit and consider the entire scope of why the move is being made. According to a majority of you, I have no idea what I'm doing and lose out on a majority of my trades. However, the turn around from last year to this year for my team, talent and asset wise is immense. Jerry Sloan is a great player but I made this move because :
1) I didn't need Jerry to score or facilitate. I needed him to play defense and the player I got back to replace Sloan in the starting lineup is A- PRD with MUCH better athleticism.
2) Boston and Beijing were drooling over Sloan's ability to play defense as well as pass the ball, Boston even admitted it was a unique skill set. I have Ricky Sobers. Who has the EXACT same skill set as Sloan. Sloan is a better defender, Sobers is projected to be a better offensive player. Sobers is 5x better than Lionel Hollins, who Boston considered a "steal".
3) Walter Davis. One of the best pure scorers to come out this draft class. Majority of people agreed that he was a steal for London at 13. Davis can score from anywhere on the floor and he has ELITE athleticism. He's also a SG at 6'6.
4) This trade freed up 8 million in cap space. I have 14 guys on my roster right now. Not a bad position to be in.
5) Bob Rule. I needed a center badly. I know he's not the answer, but he can plug the hole right now until I turn one of these assets into some front court help.

If you have to defend a trade this much, you might want to reconsider the trade.
Wait.
