Figured it was time for a new thread for NFL talks.
Clowney this morning ran a 4.47 and a 4.48 40yd dash. So almost solidifies him as 1-2 right? Wasn't Houston really good just a season or two ago? So wouldn't it be better to grab a guy like Clowney and going and paying a good FA QB? I mean Russell is far from elite but Seattle seemed to win, so I think that would be much better then grabbing a guy like Manziel (who I am not big on) and hoping shit breaks down every play so he can run around.

Mike Vick? LOL
The key is not spending TOO much money on a QB these days. Or so it appears.

Praying that the Browns somehow get Sammy Watkins with the 4th Pick.....Gordon and Watkins has a nice ring to it. Then draft a RB with the late first rounder or a QB if one of the top 4 falls or pick one in the second round.
Let that young QB learn for a year behind Campbell, Hoyer or heck why not Vick as stop gap.

As far as Houston. I think that that Bill O'Brien is a guy that likes a traditional QB. So a combo of Watt and Clowney on the D-Line could blow teams up. If I was the GM/Coach it would be hard to not team them up and hope to find a traditional QB in the later rounds to develop.

QBs I know that are free agents that could be helpful to them right now:
Michael Vick (Houston just runs the ball anyway) Matt Cassell (I think he'd be a great fit for that offense) Josh McCown Matt Flynn
Hell even a move for Mark Sanchez. I think this Houston team could step right up to compete for the division with a veteran QB.

And as a Browns fan, if the Houston Texans do release Matt Schaub I would welcome him in Cleveland. I think that he will have a bounce back season.

Yeah, Schaub was really bad last season but great all previous ones. Maybe a new coach and a better backup QB gives him new light, but with Foster and (is Tate still there?) I'd be scared to deal with Watt/Clowney D-Line

Clowney has the amazing dash time but has a mediocre bench press and blew off the rest of the workouts altogether. Does the first part completely negate the rest?

To be fair his bench was on par with Dwight Freeney I'm pretty sure. He turned out ok.

I think bench press is a lot harder to use as a strength gauge when your arms are that damn long considering how long each rep is. I don't see how you can pass up pairing him with JJ Watt.
Can anyone explain the "blind dog in a meat market" quote about him?

Can anyone explain the "blind dog in a meat market" quote about him? Ford basically is saying Clowney is all athletics with no really technique or discipline. He's saying he is the more refined player making him better. Could argue he's right...could also argue that if Clowney is this good without discipline or technique, he'll be even more scary once a real NFL DC gets to working on him.

Yeah, his freshman year he didn't have the greatest numbers because he didn't know the playbook well enough so Spurrier wouldn't have him as a regular starter if starting at all. Once he learned the book, he tore through the SEC. I think he'll be just fine at the next level.

Apparently Teddy Bridgewater didn't do so well with his interview portion which added questions while Manziel pretty much blew it out of the water. Very interesting. Love hearing about the QB interviews

Can't wait till 4 pm, when my beloved Brownies decide to let an all-pro center and safety walk...then make a crazy trade to get Revis and some how end up with no draft picks.

well not as bad as I thought I like Donte w-Hitner. And Dansby is good but that is a lot of money for an aging ILB.
Plus a offer-sheet for an off-injuried small slot receiver. yikes

Yo... Jairus Byrd to the Saints... that is all that matters. Byrd + Vaccaro might be the best safety duo in the NFL.

Was hoping that the Browns new HC, old DC for the Bills, could get Byrd to come to Cleveland, but I am ok with former OSU safety Hitner.

So far so good for my Broncos. Talib, Ware and Ward already make our defense look light years better, especially with the injured players that'll be back this season
