When your not doing one of the basics of life (eating, sleeping, posting) what else do you guys get into? I play softball (have for 19 years - broke my collarbone in the final game last year, so looking forward to swinging/throwing again), watch movies, make movies, run a film fest, and go to film fests. Aside of that I spend time with my nephews and nieces and now... ABCA. That's about all I can fit into 24-hours

I play basketball, coach basketball, watch a lot of basketball, scout some for basketball, and even help write recruiting articles about basketball.
Other than that... a little PS3, movies, sports on the tele.

Other than working and spending time with the wife and two kids, I generally just spend my spare time watching an obscene number of movies (as John knows), reading books and writing movie and books reviews.

Looks like I'm the child here hahaha. My days are pretty much working about 35 hours a week during which I listen to a lot of podcasts and when Im not working I fill my free time with a few computer games (Heroes of Newerth mostly and just recently WoW (the ladder was just in the last week and might be a mistake)), then I spend a lot of time on here, and Im going to get back Frisbee golfing once its a bit nicer. I also make it a point to visit my mom and 3 year old sister on a weekly basis. My time is stretched pretty thin but Im going to have to switch it all around soon enough because Im moving out on my own and Im going to get back to school. Busy busy busy but not at the same time haha.

God, you are all so young...what is the median age in the league now, 23? 24? Is the over-30 crowd limited to just John, Corey, Roark and myself, or are there other men amongst you boys?

No not currently but I recently found Twitch.tv which is live streams of random video games and Id watch good players play Heroes of Newerth when I was on call for work and I noticed there were Magic the Gathering Online streams on there so I was watching them off and on. It gave me the itch to play haha and there is a prerelease this weekend that Im strongly considering going to. Magic is the only card game Ill be able to go back to and play because its the only one Im certain will last. Again my time is being stretched though so Im not exactly sure if I will. Im thinking about getting into Magic Online after I move but I have to see where my time is at. Giving WoW the axe in favor of Magic is also a possibility. Im just a nerd at heart

Your not alone Berlin. I turned 32 back in January. I've just known Moscow since he was 15ish. So I feel old.
Moscow-I tried to get back into MtG when I moved back to Bismarck, but the local shop is very bad. Really grungy, reminds me of the basement of the Dugout from back in the day, BUT WORSE! I think it was Return to Ravnica I bought some of and went to a prerelease for. Didn't have much fun. Planeswalkers are really stupid to me, and to play anything constructed you need infinite of them. A decent standard deck would run 300-500. Magic online is alot cheaper then that, but I'd rather have physical cards and interaction. Every new release I consider going, but I hate this shop so much.

Yeah I hear you loud and clear.. All there is here is fucking pattys games. Magic alone makes that guy an assload of money and he hates the magic group. He always make someone else run FNMs and run the prereleases too. The last one I went to was Avacyn Restored and he had two girls running it and one of which had an infant behind the counter. Not like that's a problem either way but thats a dick move when you are the busiest your store gets, and instead of you being there, you send a girl with a baby haha.
Not sure if you heard but Kevin passed away. Im not sure if you really liked him much but he had some sort of cancer and didn't tell anyone and ended up passing away last winter. They ended up moving the Dugout to Sartell by blue line sportsbar and they run that place like shit too. In that prerealease Beltz went 5-1 and they cut to top 4 so he missed out and got 2 packs or some dumb shit. Oh not to mention they were selling their prerelease product during the prerelease. Thats a big no no.
I think Im just going to play online for the fact you can draft any time of the day and you dont have to be in a store with 7 other people who also want to. If I do though Ill probably still try to get my hands on physical cards and possibly go to bigger tournaments. There arent many cool people at the card shops these days anyways haha. I just like the main guys that are good at Magic here in St. Cloud. Mainly James Beltz, Josh Silbernik, and Scott Markeson.
As for the card shop in ND, that sucks a fat one. How hard is it to have a decent card shop? haha. Id just like a decent one to go to but they are lackluster here and sound even worse there. As for Planeswalkers, they are pretty damn good but an interesting mechanic non-the-less. Its just dumb because of how powerful they get the longer they are on the table. There is a new one coming out and his good ability is -7, flip 5 coins and take an extra turn for each heads. Thats OP.

My understanding is that he didn't know he had cancer and he died 48-hours after he collapsed from it/found out about it at the ER. I was on my way to Colorado when it happened or else I would have gone to his funeral. We talked about making black KS patches for our softball team but that never materialized. He was a nice guy. He was a tough business man, but he was a nice guy.

Man, I used to kill some Magic WAY back in the day. Never realized how big it was. Now I couldn't even imagine having time to play any sort of card game outside of trips to the Casino.
Speaking of which. Heading to Tunica, MS and Vegas on back to back weekends. Both for Nike Coaching Clinics. Harrahs in Tunica and Orleans in Vegas (though I'll hit the strip as a first timer with money to blow... not as much though due to this house).
Anyone in here from round those parts?

That sucks about Kevin, I wasn't aware. I saw that the shop wasn't there the last time I drove thru Saint Cloud but just figured they'd closed. As far as the St. Cloud group goes, does Justin still play then or mostly just the guys you listed? The shop thing here sucks hard, and if I had an extra 10-14 grand I'd consider just opening one. There were a TON of people for all the prereleases here but everybody said they don't like the shop but it's the only option. Plus rent out here is crazy high for real estate thanks to all the oil bullcrap out in Williston, ND. I think maybe once they make more things able to target planeswalkers I could stand them more, but early on once they hit the table all you could do was hope to have dudes to throw at it before it blew up your face. Man I miss card games. Still have all my Raw Deal and makes me so sad that I've got nobody to play with anymore
