LONDON [AP] -- The switch-board at ABCA Headquarters have been lit up like Scott Hall and Prince Harry at Mardi Gras with the amount of trades that are being filed into the league office. There have been at least 18 trades made at this point and we've only been through two full rounds.
Amongst all of the chaos and moves being made, our favorite 5-man club has been able to snag four players through less than three rounds.
Center - Monk Meineke [age 22] (Picked 56th overall)
It's no secret. This team prides itself on defense. The Towers' General Manager has said as much. In the late 2nd round the Towers added "Mr Turpentine" Monk Meineke. The guy defends the paint so well that he virtually takes it out of play. He also excels on the offensive glass which will likely come in handy as this team may be prone to throwing up a few bricks now and again.
With Monk's youth and skill set it is expected that he'll help anchor the front court for the better part of a decade with..
Power Forward - Bob Boozer [age 20] (Picked 10th overall)
Boozer is the kind of win-now youth that teams look for. He is capable of stepping in right away and playing physical with anyone on the floor. He's another low post bull. He'll fight and scrap for rebounds and make it difficult for any big man to gain position on him in the post. The Towers are setting themselves up to be one of the tougher teams to score against. He looks to be one of the best defensive bigs in the game already and he's only 20.
And that's good, because right now this next guy is their biggest offensive weapon. And I am thinking they'll need a bit more firepower to compete.
Small Forward - Hank Luisetti [age 30] (Picked 70th overall)
It was at this part of the draft where need becomes the biggest issue. The Towers had a need at SF and for some offensive production and there was Hank Luisetti. While he is a little older than the rest of the team he will be able to provide a lot of intangibles that this locker room needs. He is one of the best shooters in the league and has good size and athletic ability for a Small Forward.
Many probably like the pick of Hank Luisetti for the Towers, some may not, some may want to continue the youth movement that was started when London drafted..
Shooting Guard - Viktor Zubkov [age 20] (Picked 51st overall)
Viktor could have been a bit of a reach but when a guy is 20 and has a bunch of upside how long do you expect him to stay on the board? The issue with him is that he may not be good enough to start his first year and that's kind of a problem if you took him with your 2nd round pick and you traded your 2013 1st. But, overall, the Towers are said to be high on his size, athleticism, and skill potential. They just hope he can reach that ceiling.
All in all the Towers are looking like a tough defensive team with good athleticism but a need for more scoring. There are still 11 more players to be added to the roster and undoubtedly some of those players will sure up those concerns.
Every team in the league right now has strengths and weaknesses. Winning will come down to match-ups.
Round 3 of the ABCA Legends Creation Draft wraps up tonight on Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg broadcasting (local channel 983).
