Pretty cool concept but it's so far from even a working prototype. Will be fascinating to see how it actually develops. For every invention like this, there's something like the Segway. Segway was supposed to revolutionize transportation... instead it became a tool for mall cops.
I do think it's far better use of funds to explore this, than the expensive slower train they've approved to be built.

Our lifetime is going to be crazy. Technology and the things people come up with are absolutely astounding. I tell people this all the time, we're such a lucky generation. I'm in my late 20's and when I was in Grade 1 we were JUST making the transition from electric typewriters at school to having one or two computers in a lucky classroom or library. To see everything else that has changed along the way, and will continue to change is incredible. Advances in transportation, medicine, information exchange etc will be fascinating to watch. Even my parents, immigrants from a 3rd world country.. They grew up working fields and having no plumbing and electricity, for them to be here using tablets, smartphones etc is so cool when you think about how there's no way they could fathom this as a child.

I agree, it is an amazing time. What I find interesting is people older then me assumed I've always lived around the internet and computers. I can remember a time before all of that. I remember how huge of a deal having a computer was and how horribly crappy the thing was. It's amazing to watch my younger cousins are so interconnected with technology, they are unaware of what it would be like without technology. It's going to be crazy to see how everything progresses.

Super cool, a shame he doesn't plan to fund it himself. I hope they reconsider the California high speed train plan when this one tops it in so many ways
