Understandable for you, but I don't think anything is really spoiled in the 30 seconds of actual footage you see

In this case the Star Wars universe is pretty well known. Seeing the Millenium Falcon or an X-Wing isn't a huge deal. At this point its more out of habit than anything and because I think I enjoy movies more this way. No expectations.

Should I check out the other Star Wars? The original trilogy definitely. The prequel trilogy maybe. Some will tell you to avoid those but I say give them a shot.

Despite the fact that they have questionable acting in the prequel trilogy, establishing the back story and some of the fight scenes make it worth it. I actually got the whole saga on blu ray for my birthday last month.

I think there is support for both ways. Some watch the prequels first so they Can finish off strong with the better movies. Some like to watch it in the order it was released. I watched it in the order it was released.

I think the best way to do it is to watch the original trilogy, and then watch the prequels if you want more background into the Darth Vader/Obiwan relationship. The prequels are not necessary to understand the original trilogy - and, in my opinion, I think they needlessly complicate it. ALSO: I marked out pretty hard for the crashed star destroyer in this preview. That is awesome

I think most when they watch it their first go around should watch it the way that they were released. Starting off with the prequels can be rough because I feel they are slow at times (the council and senate meetings to be exact). What i've heard from some though is that watching the prequels first allows them to finish off with the stronger movies (save the best for last).

I can see it both ways...if you are somehow completely new to the Star Wars franchise, starting with the prequels runs the risk of flaming you out of ever reaching the good stuff. I'd definitely recommend telling a newbie to start with the originals and then going back for the prequels. That being said, whenever I do a marathon now, I always go 1-6, because I enjoy needless complications, bad acting, Jar Jar Binks and waiting 7 hours to get to enjoyable cinema.

i still have a chubby after seeing the second trailer.... the first one? meh so what... second.. HOLY SHIIIIIT! Yeah I think they realized that the first one fell flat and put together a strong second trailer. My favorite aspect of the 2nd trailer was that while basically saying that the Jedi are making a comeback in numbers, the Sith are also looking stronger with what looked to be two very public Sith lords rather than the typical overseer and puppet dynamic that is prevalent through the saga. Also, looks like we may have a new bounty hunter unless that silver guy is just the new look elite trooper.

In my opinion the prequels should be watched 2nd and the originals 1st.
**SPOILERS**
My reasoning for this is simple - if you know that Anakin turns into Vader then the "I am your father" line holds very little impact in episode 5. Sure, it is probable that just about everyone on the planet knows that Vader is Luke's father by this point but that is always something that has bothered me about watching them 1 through 6.

You could say that about all of the reveals...which I won't list, since they would then be spoiled for the 3 people in the world who haven't seen it. But yes, as I said before, originals 1st, then the prequels. Or just the originals and then watch 3 way better movies than Episodes 1-3.
