Note - nothing about my offer, it wasnt great, I couldnt have offered more, so thats not the problem here.
Nothing shady is going on, thats not my intention, Im just amazed at how the fatal attraction of giving assets for cheap mostly happens in a trade with London. From Jan Bobrowsky and Boozer for Wilt, to a throw in Cairo 1st round pick in a silly trade that somehow gets Jerry West 2 weeks later. Its frustrating. It really does feel like an uneven playing field although everything is fair and by the books. Dont know how else to put it.

We're not asking you to give less effort John, we're asking GMs to realize that they don't HAVE to take your offers and can shop for a good one versus one where the best piece is a far out future 1st that in that conference could easily be early 20's late teens at best. I don't know if GMs are afraid to say no to you, or just feel that since you run the league that you won't rip them, that all your players have to be guys that will pan out because you made them or something along those lines. I don't honestly know, I just agree with what BA said about teams giving you amazing assets for so little on a regular basis, that is all.

I cringe every time I see London post a completed trade because it just makes me feel like another season without a shot to actually win a title. But what can you do? They'll gladly replace you as they said Do you really want me to put in 75% effort and turn down trades? Would you all feel better knowing you beat a team that wasn't trying to win games? Yes and yes...now you get it!

It really does feel like an uneven playing field although everything is fair and by the books. Dont know how else to put it. What I know (and I only heard this after I made the trade) is that SAS was looking for rookie deal guys. He wanted Westphal and a rookie like Lucas. Apparently he favored Tree to Cowens on MC and didn't want to pay Boozer. There might have been other youth out there but who was willing to trade it right now? All of the available firsts belong to Toronto. I mean seriously, look around, I tried every team I could to find a placeholder 21 (or 22) to trade CAIRO 22 and there were maybe 2-3 options. Seer turned me down, BCZ turned me down for my own 21 (yes, London 21 was untouchable). I'm not sure what else was available to him if he was hell bent on making a move before the regular season (speculation, I never heard him say that.) My plan in leagues is to sell high. I don't wait around for guys to lose value. When I feel they've peaked I trade for someone on the way up and the cycle continues until I have an All-Star team of youth. I don't know how else to explain it. It's not super complicated. There were maybe 2-3 PMs exchanged and it was done. EDIT: Of course, no offense taken, I am trying to explain whatever the process was.

I don't know why some people are so up in arms regarding this trade. It's a good deal for London but West has historically underachieved based on his draft position. Boston got Reed/Brody for West because at the time, he was still thought of as having immense potential and could flourish away from Baylor/Lucas. SA got back Westphal and I guess Lucas but ultimately he doubled down on the Cairo 22 1st. It has a lot of high risk / high reward to it but it's not that bad. Kudos to Jscott for being able to accumulate assets and cash in on them before they depreciate.
