The start of the MLB season is right around the corner.
The Twins look ratty. A lot of pitching woes but maybe Gibson gets up to the ML squad before too long.
Nationals should be a fun team. Span will help them a lot. They are my NL squad.

The Nats will be interesting, with Strasburg off the innings limit and Haren (presumably) an upgrade over Edwin Jackson. I still don't think they take the NL, but they will be fun to watch.
As for my White Sox, I'm hoping they are competitive this year in the AL Central, but an offense based around .210 hitting Adam Dunn and Father Time Paul Konerko makes me leery. Even if the pitching is better (which is unlikely since John Danks is already on the DL), the Tigers look tough to top with Victor Martinez back at full strength.

Jays championship this season

Jays championship this season Blue Jays definitely had the most interesting offseason of anyone, picking up speed and average with Reyes, Bonafacio and Melky Cabrera to go with the power they already had...plus they added the NL Cy Young winner and a workhorse to the pitching staff in Dickey and Beurhle. Is it all enough to with the title? I don't know, but with the Red Sox down this year and the Yankees racked by injuries, the AL East is wide open for the other three teams to fight over.

I was never a huge baseball fan, but living near DC and supporting their other major sports teams has made me a Nats fan by default. And I was actually starting to enjoy watching them in the playoffs last season.

It is a good time to live in the DC area for a baseball fan. While I am far from my White Sox, being near DC is nice because the Nats have tons of young talent + a terrible fan base = always available great seating at reasonable prices.

I have a really hard time getting into baseball. Speed of the game and infinite commercials make it unwatchable on TV to me. Don't really have a team in the race but I did enjoy watching the Giants during the last few postseasons

Those of us who truly love baseball are becoming rarer and rarer in this country...everyone is into basketball and football, which are great, but they aren't the national pastime.

Those of us who truly love baseball are becoming rarer and rarer in this country...everyone is into basketball and football, which are great, but they aren't the national pastime. I really wish I could get more into baseball. I kind of don't even know where to begin following it at this point. My interest in the NBA has drastically fallen after the past 3-4 seasons. Once all the big men retired and it turned into this fast break/free throw league, and the constant Heat being shoved down my throat from the ESPN I just don't care much. I solely follow the Thunder only at this point and don't make the effort I used to to watch any televised game. Same for NFL, I'm sad to think that after #18 hangs them up I may be done with football. It was never my first choice to watch but Peyton was always a guy I loved to watch. If I'm not actively involved in fantasy football (which I haven't for a couple of years now) I don't care to watch. So back to baseball, I don't seem to get a great selection of games here in ND. Kinda sucks when you only get Red Sox/Yankees/Cubs as the majority of TV games if you don't have a local market. Could probably catch some Twins games on FSN, but I haven't really followed them since the old days of Puckett, Hrbek, etc..

Baseball season opens in mere moments...though I can't think of a more anti-climactic game to start the season with than the Rangers and Astros. The Rangers are less interesting to watch with their recent defections and the Astros will be lucky to win 70 games this year...

Well I've watched the Giants not have the best offense and have really solid pitching even with Linscomb pitching terribly last season til the playoffs. I think that the Giants could be a potential repeat in the series. I do believe that the Nationals will be there opponent in the NLCS.
As far as the AL goes I could see the Bluejays being like the New York Mets. Spending all that money in free agency and ending up sitting at home while the playoffs are going. There are alot of teams that are getting older in the Whitesox's and the Yankee's. They need to begin to get some youth on their teams sooner rather than later.

Baseball n00b here, but you don't think the Reds have a chance in the NL? They looked pretty good against the Nats this weekend.

Weren't the Reds pretty good last season? They still got Votto don't they? I really see baseball being pretty wide open these days outside of the usual awful teams like Pirates/Padres/Twins

Jose Reyes had a nasty injury sliding into 2nd last night...don't think this bodes well for the new look Blue Jays.
